Shipping & returns — Trusted Distribution Partner items
When will my order ship?

Trusted Distribution Partner items typically ship within 1–3 business days from our partner's warehouse, separate from any Faxon-fulfilled items in your order. Transit times depend on the carrier and destination.

Will tracking come from Faxon?

Yes — you'll receive a tracking notification from Faxon Firearms when your partner-shipped item leaves the warehouse. If your order also contains Faxon-fulfilled items, you'll receive separate tracking for each shipment.

Can I combine this with other Faxon items in one shipment?

No. Items marked Trusted Distribution Partner ship from a different warehouse than Faxon-fulfilled items and will arrive separately. Each shipment has its own tracking and may arrive on different days.

How do returns work for partner-shipped items?

Returns for Trusted Distribution Partner items are handled by Faxon Customer Service rather than through our standard self-service portal, so we can coordinate the return with our partner on your behalf.

To start a return, contact us at customerservice@faxonfirearms.com or submit a request through our support form and select “Refund / Return.”

Is this product authentic and covered by warranty?

Yes. All Trusted Distribution Partner products are sourced from authorized distributors and are covered by the original manufacturer's warranty. Faxon stands behind every product sold on faxonfirearms.com.

TRIJICON RMR TYPE 2 ADJUSTABLE LED REFLEX SIGHT — 6.5 MOA

6.5 MOA Red Dot Largest LED Dot Available Open Emitter Auto / Manual Brightness 4-Year Battery 1.2 oz RMR Footprint
Factory Testing Notice: All Trijicon optics are individually tested at the factory and may show minor signs of use. This is a standard part of Trijicon’s quality control process and does not affect function, performance, or warranty coverage.

The Trijicon RMR Type 2 in 6.5 MOA is the largest dot configuration available in the RMR Adjustable LED lineup — purpose-built for shooters who prioritize absolute acquisition speed over precision at distance. The 6.5 MOA dot fills the sight picture more completely on a fast draw, making it ideal for competition shooting, close-quarters defensive use, older eyes that have difficulty resolving a smaller dot, or any application where getting the dot on target in the shortest possible time is the primary goal. All the Type 2 platform advantages carry over: ruggedized electronics, ambidextrous power controls, tactile click-adjustments, forged aluminum housing engineered for semi-automatic pistol slide recoil, and the industry-standard RMR mounting footprint. At 1.2 ounces with battery and up to four years of continuous battery life, it is among the most capable and battle-tested micro reflex sights available at any size.

When 6.5 MOA Is the Right Choice

Dot size is a trade-off between acquisition speed and precision. A smaller dot (1-3 MOA) sits inside the target at most defensive distances and allows precise shot placement, but requires slightly more visual focus to locate during a fast draw. A 6.5 MOA dot is unmistakable — it is large enough that the eye finds it immediately, even under stress, low light, or a less-than-perfect presentation. At typical defensive handgun distances of 3 to 15 yards, a 6.5 MOA dot is still more than precise enough for accurate shot placement on center mass. The tradeoff only becomes apparent past 50 yards, where the dot begins to cover meaningful portions of a small target. For the majority of practical defensive and duty applications, the speed advantage of the larger dot outweighs the precision compromise at distance.

The 6.5 MOA configuration is also a strong choice for shooters who have experienced difficulty resolving small dots in high-stress situations or under reduced-light conditions. When adrenaline narrows the visual field and fine focus becomes harder to maintain, a larger dot is substantially easier to confirm on target before breaking the shot. The same applies in lower ambient light, where a larger dot maintains visibility at lower brightness settings, preserving more peripheral vision and situational awareness.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why might this optic show signs of use if it is listed as new?

Trijicon individually tests every optic at the factory before it ships — this is part of their quality control process, not a sampling program. The testing process may leave minor cosmetic marks such as light contact points from test fixtures or faint handling marks. These do not affect the optic’s function, zero retention, or brightness, and the optic ships with its full manufacturer warranty intact. Trijicon’s position is that a tested optic with known performance is preferable to an untested one that looks pristine. If you have any concerns about the specific condition of your unit upon arrival, contact us.

Who should choose 6.5 MOA over 3.25 MOA?

The 6.5 MOA dot is the better choice if your primary concern is the fastest possible target acquisition rather than precision at extended distances. It is especially well-suited for competition shooters focused on speed, defensive carry at typical engagement distances (under 25 yards), shooters who have found smaller dots hard to locate under stress or low light, and shooters with age-related vision changes that make resolving finer reticle details more difficult. The 3.25 MOA is the better choice if you want a versatile dot that performs well across a wider range of distances, particularly if you expect to take precision shots past 25-50 yards. For everyday defensive carry, either dot size works well — the difference only becomes meaningful at distance.

What is the difference between the RMR Type 1 and Type 2?

The RMR Type 2 retains the same forged aluminum housing, mounting footprint, reticle options, and core durability of the Type 1, and adds several meaningful improvements: a dedicated brightness toggle for switching between manual and automatic brightness modes without cycling through all levels; ruggedized electronics throughout the optic; ambidextrous power controls; and redesigned adjustment screws with tactile click feedback for more precise zeroing. If you have existing RMR-cut slides, mounts, or holsters from the Type 1 era, the Type 2 is a direct drop-in replacement — the footprint is identical.

How does auto brightness work and when should I use manual mode?

In automatic mode, the RMR Type 2’s ambient light sensor continuously monitors the environment and adjusts the dot brightness to stay visible without blooming or washing out. This is the most convenient setting for general carry and use where lighting conditions change — moving from indoors to outdoors, low-light environments, or varying weather. Manual mode gives the shooter direct control over the brightness level and holds that setting regardless of ambient light. Manual mode is preferred when conditions are predictable and you want a consistent dot appearance, or when using the optic with night vision where a specific low-brightness setting must be maintained.

Why is the RMR the industry standard footprint and does it matter?

The RMR was among the first rugged micro red dots purpose-built for pistol slide mounting, and its footprint became widely adopted before competing standards emerged. Today, virtually every major holster manufacturer — Safariland, Blackhawk, Raven Concealment, G-Code, and many others — produces RMR-compatible holsters. Slide machinists and pistol OEMs that offer optics-ready models frequently cut to the RMR footprint as their primary or only option. This means choosing the RMR gives you the largest selection of compatible holsters, mounts, and accessories of any micro red dot currently on the market. If you plan to run the optic on a carry pistol, the holster compatibility difference between RMR and non-standard footprints is significant and practical.

About Trijicon

Trijicon is an American optics manufacturer headquartered in Wixom, Michigan. Founded in 1981, Trijicon built their reputation on self-luminous tritium iron sights and the ACOG (Advanced Combat Optical Gunsight), which became the standard-issue optic for U.S. military infantry forces. The RMR, introduced in 2009, extended their mission-critical standard to micro red dot optics and became the definitive benchmark for pistol-mounted reflex sights. Trijicon products are used by U.S. military special operations units, federal law enforcement, and law enforcement agencies worldwide. All Trijicon optics are covered by a limited lifetime warranty.
