.308 Winchester is the cartridge the AR-10 and SR-25-pattern magazine were built around, and it is still the most versatile big-bore semi-auto round: deer and elk, long-range steel, and the widest ammunition selection of any AR-10 chambering. Faxon builds 4 Match Series .308 Win barrels (18″, 20″; 1:10 twist; $319–$325). Every Match Series barrel is machined from 416-R stainless, 5R button rifled, air gauged, stress relieved, 100% wet magnetic particle inspected, and salt-bath QPQ nitrided inside and out. Each ships with a nickel-Teflon (NP3) barrel extension installed, torqued to 150 ft-lb, pinned, and headspace checked 100%, and every one is full-auto capable.
