.223 Wylde

Faxon Match Series 223 Wylde AR-15 Barrels

223 Wylde is a chamber, not a different cartridge. Gunsmith Bill Wylde designed it to split the difference between the .223 Remington and 5.56 NATO chambers: it keeps the long freebore and gentle leade angle of the NATO chamber, so 5.56 pressures stay safe, and pairs them with the tighter .224″ freebore diameter of the .223 Rem, which helps accuracy. Faxon builds 14 Match Series 223 Wylde barrels (13.9″, 14.5″, 16″, 18″, 20″; 1:8 twist; $234–$306). Every Match Series barrel is machined from 416-R stainless, 5R button rifled, air gauged, stress relieved, 100% wet magnetic particle inspected, and salt-bath QPQ nitrided inside and out. Each ships with a nickel-Teflon (NP3) barrel extension installed, torqued to 150 ft-lb, pinned, and headspace checked 100%, and every one is full-auto capable. Faxon AR-15 and AR-10 barrels have been voted Favorite Aftermarket Barrel by Shooting Sports Retailer every year since 2022, the Gold Award.
