Faxon FF-22: The Billet 10/22® Receiver

The Faxon FF-22 is a billet-machined 6061-T6 aluminum receiver for the Ruger® 10/22® platform — a direct upgrade for the rifle you already own, or the foundation for a ground-up .22 LR build. It has an integrated, extended-length 0-MOA Picatinny rail machined into the top, a tight-tolerance barrel channel that eliminates barrel droop, and it ships as a kit with a chromoly steel V-block, V-block screws, and a rubber bolt buffer. It accepts all Ruger® 10/22 non-takedown OEM components, every Faxon Rimfire barrel, and most aftermarket triggers, bolts, stocks, and chassis. Serialized firearm; ships to your FFL. Two ways to buy it: the FF-22 receiver kit on its own, so you choose the barrel, or an FX22 barreled action with a Faxon Rimfire barrel already fitted — the fastest route to a finished rifle. Either way, the FF-22 Bolt Assembly is the matching drop-in bolt.

Why Replace a Factory 10/22® Receiver?

The receiver is the one part of a 10/22 that everything else bolts to, and the factory unit is the part most builders never upgrade. The FF-22 fixes the three things that limit a stock receiver: the barrel-to-receiver fit, the optic mount, and the material. It is CNC-machined from a solid 6061-T6 billet rather than cast, with critical dimensions checked by Go/No-Go gages and CMM during production. The barrel channel is bored to ∅.687" +.002"/-.000", tight enough that some barrels need a 30-second thermal fit — that is by design, because a loose fit is what lets a 10/22 barrel droop and walk its zero. The 0-MOA Picatinny rail is machined into the receiver, not screwed on, and it is longer than the factory rail so you have room to mount a scope with proper eye relief or run a red dot and magnifier.

Everything you already own transfers over. Because the FF-22 is built to the non-takedown 10/22 specification, your factory bolt, trigger group, charging handle, barrel, and stock drop straight in, and so do most aftermarket parts from other manufacturers. The kit includes the chromoly steel V-block, two #12-24 screws, and a rubber bolt buffer, so the only thing between you and a running rifle is the parts you choose to build it with.

From Receiver to Rifle

1 • BARREL

Every Faxon Rimfire barrel is ground to the FF-22’s barrel channel and threaded 1/2x28. Plinker Series for general use, Match Series with a Bentz chamber for accuracy. Flame fluted, straight fluted, pencil, and bull profiles, 10" to 18".

2 • BOLT

The Faxon FF-22 Bolt Assembly in QPQ finish, or your factory Ruger® bolt. Either drops in.

3 • TRIGGER & STOCK

Any OEM or aftermarket 10/22 trigger group and any stock or chassis built for the standard non-takedown receiver. Cross-pin holes are ∅.250".

4 • SUPPRESSOR

The Twenty-Toucan® modular .22 LR suppressor threads straight on. Full-auto rated, hearing-safe at 131.95 dB at the muzzle, short or full-length configuration.

Rimfire Receiver FAQ

Will the FF-22 work with my Ruger® 10/22?

Yes, if it is a standard (non-takedown) 10/22. Your factory bolt, trigger group, barrel, charging handle, and stock transfer directly. The FF-22 does not fit Ruger 10/22 Takedown models.

Why does a 10/22 receiver have to ship to an FFL?

Under federal law the serialized receiver is the firearm. Every FF-22 receiver kit and FX22 barreled action ships to a licensed dealer, where you complete a Form 4473 to take possession. Enter your FFL’s information at checkout. Barrels, bolts, and accessories ship directly to you.

What barrels fit the FF-22?

All Faxon Rimfire barrels for 10/22, Ruger® factory barrels, and most aftermarket barrels that use the standard V-block attachment. The barrel channel is bored to ∅.687". Faxon barrels are ground to match it and ship threaded 1/2x28.

Do I need to thermal fit the barrel?

Possibly. The FF-22’s barrel channel is intentionally tight to prevent barrel droop. If a barrel does not slide in by hand, warm the front ring of the receiver with a heat gun or hair dryer for 30 to 60 seconds and it will. Once it cools the receiver grips the barrel concentrically. This is normal and does not affect the finish. Barreled actions arrive with the barrel already installed.

Billet or cast — does it matter on a .22?

For accuracy, yes. Machining from billet holds tighter, more repeatable tolerances on the features that matter: the barrel channel, the bolt raceway, and the cross-pin holes that locate the trigger group. The FF-22 is inspected to Faxon’s MBR protocol with Go/No-Go gages, thread plugs, and a CMM check each shift.
