The testing process may leave minor cosmetic marks such as light contact points from test fixtures or faint handling marks. These do not affect the optic’s function, zero retention, or brightness, and the optic ships with its full manufacturer warranty intact. Both are RMR Type 2 platforms sharing the same forged aluminum housing, RMR footprint, reticle options, and core durability. The difference is in brightness control. The LED model (RM01, this product) features auto-adjusting brightness only — the optic’s sensor reads ambient light and sets the dot brightness automatically. There is no manual override. The Adjustable LED model (RM06) adds a brightness toggle that allows the user to switch between automatic mode and a manually selected fixed brightness level. The Adjustable LED also features ambidextrous power controls. Choose the LED model if you want simplicity and auto-brightness is sufficient for your use. Choose the Adjustable LED model if you require manual brightness control — particularly for night vision compatibility or specific lighting environments where you want to override the sensor.

The auto-brightness sensor on the RMR LED model responds continuously to ambient light levels, adjusting the dot to stay visible without blooming. In most practical use environments — indoor ranges, outdoor daylight, transitional lighting — it performs reliably and keeps the dot at an appropriate level without any user intervention. The sensor is most effective when not obstructed; pointing the optic directly at a very bright light source momentarily will cause it to dim, and covering the sensor briefly can cause a lag in adjustment. These are normal behaviors inherent to auto-brightness designs. For general carry, duty, and range use, auto-brightness provides a consistent, always-ready dot. For specialized applications like night vision, the Adjustable LED model’s manual mode is the better choice.

The RMR Type 2 retains the same forged aluminum housing, mounting footprint, and core durability of the Type 1. The Type 2 adds redesigned adjustment screws with tactile click feedback for more precise zeroing, and a ruggedized electronics package. The mounting footprint is identical to the Type 1, making the Type 2 a direct drop-in upgrade on any existing RMR-cut slide, mount, or platform. All existing RMR-compatible holsters, mounts, and accessories fit the Type 2 without modification.

The RMR was among the first rugged micro red dots purpose-built for pistol slide mounting, and its footprint became widely adopted before competing standards emerged.
