The Faxon Match Series Flame Fluted® 16" 8.6 Blackout (8.6 BLK) AR-10 barrel is built for shooters who want match-ready fundamentals with the durability to run hard—especially in modern suppressed 8.6 BLK setups. You get a fast 1:3 twist, a balanced carbine-length gas system, and the signature Flame Fluting® profile for a proven stiffness-to-weight feel.

Match Series barrels start with 416-R stainless steel and 5R rifling (button rifled). After rigorous testing, the barrels are treated with salt bath nitride (QPQ) inside and out to improve corrosion resistance, reduce fouling, and support long service life. The Nickel Teflon coated extension delivers excellent dry lubricity and corrosion resistance at the interface, supporting smooth cycling and consistent lockup. A recessed 11° target crown protects the muzzle, and every barrel is MPI inspected.

Flame Fluting®: Patented Variable-Depth Fluting

Flame Fluting® is Faxon’s signature variable-depth fluting approach developed by our founder and president, Robert T. Faxon. Rather than uniform straight flutes, Flame Fluting uses changing flute depth/geometry along the barrel to reduce weight while promoting a strong stiffness-to-weight balance and adding external surface area for improved cooling.

We have noticed inconsistencies with 8.6 BLK ammunition available on the market. Ammunition that does not match the cartridge print below cannot be guaranteed to function in our rifles or barrels.

Using cartridges made specifically for semi-auto rifles may cause light primer strikes in bolt action rifles due to hard primers.
