When will my order ship?
Trusted Distribution Partner items typically ship within 1–3 business days from our partner's warehouse, separate from any Faxon-fulfilled items in your order. Transit times depend on the carrier and destination.
Will tracking come from Faxon?
Yes — you'll receive a tracking notification from Faxon Firearms when your partner-shipped item leaves the warehouse. If your order also contains Faxon-fulfilled items, you'll receive separate tracking for each shipment.
Can I combine this with other Faxon items in one shipment?
No. Items marked Trusted Distribution Partner ship from a different warehouse than Faxon-fulfilled items and will arrive separately. Each shipment has its own tracking and may arrive on different days.
How do returns work for partner-shipped items?
Returns for Trusted Distribution Partner items are handled by Faxon Customer Service rather than through our standard self-service portal, so we can coordinate the return with our partner on your behalf.

MAGPUL CTR CARBINE STOCK MIL-SPEC BLACK — MAG310BLK
The Magpul CTR Carbine Stock Mil-Spec Black (MAG310BLK) is one of the most widely used aftermarket AR-15 stocks in production — a drop-in upgrade over a standard M4 stock that adds meaningful functional improvements without adding weight or complexity. CTR stands for Compact/Type Restricted, a designation reflecting its streamlined A-frame geometry that eliminates the snag points and exposed latch found on traditional M4-pattern stocks. The sculpted profile keeps the release lever concealed from accidental bumps while still remaining fast to operate when you need it.
The CTR's signature feature is its supplemental friction lock system. After you adjust to your preferred length of pull, a secondary friction mechanism tightens against the buffer tube to eliminate the wobble and rattle inherent in most collapsible stocks. The stock feels locked solid rather than loosely riding the tube. When you need to adjust again, depressing the release lever disengages the friction lock instantly. It is a simple system that makes a noticeable difference in the rifle's feel, especially under recoil or when transitioning between positions.
Sling attachment is handled by ambidextrous push-button QD sling sockets on both sides of the stock — not a single centerline socket, but dedicated sockets on the left and right so you can run your sling from either side without swapping hardware. The removable rubber buttpad grips the shoulder through clothing and body armor, and it can be swapped for aftermarket replacements. At 8.8 oz and built in the USA from durable polymer, the CTR is a straightforward, high-value upgrade to any mil-spec AR-15 or AR-308 carbine build.
✔ Best for: General-purpose AR-15 and AR-308 builds, duty and home defense rifles, shooters who want a snag-free profile and a locked-feeling stock, sling users who want ambidextrous QD attachment points
✘ Not for: Commercial-spec buffer tubes; fixed-stock builds; shooters needing buttstock storage — the CTR has no storage capability
? Note: Fits mil-spec carbine receiver extensions only. Verify your buffer tube is mil-spec diameter before ordering. No FFL transfer required for stocks.
Key Features
- Supplemental Friction Lock System — A secondary friction mechanism tightens against the buffer tube after you set your length of pull, eliminating the wobble and rattle that standard collapsible stocks develop over time. The stock feels positively locked rather than loosely riding the tube. Pressing the release lever disengages it instantly when adjustment is needed.
- Streamlined A-Frame Profile — The sculpted A-frame geometry removes the flat external surfaces and raised edges that cause a standard M4 stock to snag on gear, vehicles, and barricades. The profile also conceals the release lever within the body of the stock, preventing accidental activation from bumps or contact with external objects.
- Ambidextrous Push-Button QD Sling Sockets — Dedicated QD swivel sockets on both the left and right sides of the stock allow you to run a sling from either shoulder without adding hardware or adapters. Standard push-button QD swivels from all major sling manufacturers are compatible.
- Angled Cheek Weld — The sloped upper surface of the stock guides your cheek into a consistent position on every presentation, improving sight alignment repeatability without the bulk of a raised cheek piece.
- Removable Thick Rubber Buttpad — The buttpad is substantial enough to grip the shoulder through body armor and light enough to remove for maintenance or swap for aftermarket replacements. It provides light recoil cushioning and prevents the stock from slipping off the shoulder during extended use.
- Drop-In Mil-Spec Fit — Slides directly onto any mil-spec M4 carbine receiver extension on AR-15 or AR-308 pattern rifles with no modifications. Six-position adjustment covers the full range of shooter builds and body armor setups.
- Made in the USA — Manufactured by Magpul Industries in the United States from durable, impact-resistant polymer to mil-spec standards.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does the friction lock system actually do?
The friction lock is a supplemental clamping mechanism inside the CTR that tightens against the buffer tube after you set your length of pull. Standard collapsible stocks rely only on a spring-loaded latch to hold position, which leaves some play between the stock body and tube — the source of the familiar rattle and wobble on mil-spec stocks. The CTR's friction lock removes that play, making the stock feel solidly locked rather than loosely retained. When you need to adjust, pressing the release lever disengages both the latch and the friction lock simultaneously, allowing smooth repositioning.
How do I know if my buffer tube is mil-spec or commercial?
The two specs differ in outer diameter and surface finish. Mil-spec buffer tubes have an outer diameter of approximately 1.148" and a slightly textured surface. Commercial tubes have a larger outer diameter of approximately 1.168" and are typically smooth. The easiest check is calipers on the tube OD, or checking the documentation for your lower receiver or buffer tube. Most quality AR-15 and AR-308 builds ship with mil-spec tubes. If you slide the CTR onto a commercial tube it will feel loose and the latch will not fully engage — do not force it.
Are the QD sockets on both sides, or just one?
Both sides. The CTR has dedicated push-button QD sling swivel sockets on the left and right sides of the stock body. This allows you to run your sling from either shoulder without adding external hardware or swapping anything on the stock. Both sockets accept any standard 1.25" push-button QD swivel.
Can the buttpad be replaced or swapped?
Yes. The rubber buttpad on the CTR is removable and replaceable. Magpul and several aftermarket manufacturers offer replacement pads in different thicknesses and materials for the CTR platform. The stock can also be used without the pad if a slimmer profile is preferred, though the pad is recommended for any application involving body armor or extended shoulder contact.
How many adjustment positions does the CTR have?
Six positions on a standard mil-spec carbine receiver extension, providing approximately 1.5" of total length-of-pull adjustment — the same range as all standard M4-pattern collapsible stocks. This accommodates a wide range of shooter builds and body armor configurations.
How does the CTR compare to the B5 Systems Bravo Stock?
Both are quality mil-spec collapsible stocks with QD sling capability and no storage, but they take different approaches. The CTR's defining feature is its friction lock system for a rattle-free, locked feel; it also has QD sockets on both sides and a removable buttpad. The B5 Bravo's defining feature is its SOPMOD-derived cheek weld geometry — an angled buttface that actively positions your cheek consistently on every presentation. The CTR is the better choice if you prioritize a solid-feeling stock with ambi QD. The Bravo is the better choice if you prioritize the SOPMOD ergonomic cheek index.
Is the Magpul CTR made in the USA?
Yes. Magpul manufactures the CTR in the United States from impact-resistant polymer. Magpul is a U.S.-based company and the CTR is part of their domestic production line — the same product used by military and law enforcement units worldwide.
