Shipping & returns — Trusted Distribution Partner items
When will my order ship?

Trusted Distribution Partner items typically ship within 1–3 business days from our partner's warehouse, separate from any Faxon-fulfilled items in your order. Transit times depend on the carrier and destination.

Will tracking come from Faxon?

Yes — you'll receive a tracking notification from Faxon Firearms when your partner-shipped item leaves the warehouse. If your order also contains Faxon-fulfilled items, you'll receive separate tracking for each shipment.

Can I combine this with other Faxon items in one shipment?

No. Items marked Trusted Distribution Partner ship from a different warehouse than Faxon-fulfilled items and will arrive separately. Each shipment has its own tracking and may arrive on different days.

How do returns work for partner-shipped items?

Returns for Trusted Distribution Partner items are handled by Faxon Customer Service rather than through our standard self-service portal, so we can coordinate the return with our partner on your behalf.

To start a return, contact us at customerservice@faxonfirearms.com or submit a request through our support form and select “Refund / Return.”

Is this product authentic and covered by warranty?

Yes. All Trusted Distribution Partner products are sourced from authorized distributors and are covered by the original manufacturer's warranty. Faxon stands behind every product sold on faxonfirearms.com.

The Arken Optics SH-4J 6-24x50 FFP VPR MOA (SH4J-6240VPR) pairs the SH-4J’s Japanese ED glass platform with the Variable Precision Reticle (VPR) and MOA-graduated turrets. The VPR is a first focal plane MIL grid reticle designed for precise ranging, wind estimation, and target leads using MIL subtensions. The turrets on this variant click in 1/4 MOA increments at 20 MOA per revolution. This is a cross-unit configuration: if you range a correction in MIL from the VPR reticle and want to dial it, multiply by 3.44 to convert to MOA before dialing. Users who prefer to avoid that step can consider the MRAD companion (SH4J-6241VPR), which clicks in 0.1 MIL with a native MIL/MIL workflow.

This scope is well suited to shooters who want the precision grid of the VPR for aiming, ranging, and holds — while keeping turret graduations in MOA for compatibility with MOA-based ballistic data or doping already established on other MOA-click scopes. The 34mm tube on a 6-24x50 platform gives the SH-4J more internal elevation adjustment than 30mm counterparts, with 108 MOA / 32 MIL of total travel and the AZS zero stop locking return to zero. Japanese ED glass standard on the SH-4J upgrade delivers class-leading clarity at 24x on the 50mm objective, and the sunshade is included.

VPR Reticle with MOA Turrets — Understanding the Cross-Unit Workflow
VPR — The Precision Grid

The Variable Precision Reticle is a first focal plane MIL grid that scales correctly at every magnification. Its subtension marks are in MIL, enabling precise ranging (target size / apparent MIL size), accurate wind estimation using a MIL-reading method, and repeatable target leads. In FFP, the VPR is accurate whether you engage at 6x or 24x.

MOA Turrets — 1/4 MOA Per Click

This scope’s turrets click in 1/4 MOA increments: 20 MOA per full revolution, 108 MOA total elevation. At 100 yards, each click moves the point of impact approximately 0.26 inches. For ballistic data already expressed in MOA — from a dope card or ballistic app set to MOA output — dial the output directly. Five 1/4 MOA clicks = 1.25 MOA of correction.

Converting MIL to MOA for Dialing

When you read a correction from the VPR reticle in MIL and need to dial MOA turrets: multiply MIL by 3.438. A 2.5 MIL correction = 2.5 × 3.44 = 8.6 MOA ≈ 8.5 MOA (34 clicks). For fastest field use, a MIL-to-MOA reference card on your stock or a ballistic app set to MIL for holds / MOA for dials can streamline this. Or use the MRAD variant for a native MIL/MIL workflow.

When This Config Makes Sense

The VPR MOA configuration is practical when you use the VPR purely as an aiming and spotting grid — reading holds and corrections in MIL off the glass — but your ballistic tables or existing dope cards are established in MOA. It also suits shooters upgrading from a MOA-click scope who want to add the VPR’s precision grid without changing their entire data system to MIL.

CCW Turret Rotation on This Scope

Elevation increases with counter-clockwise rotation on the SH-4J series, consistent with the Arken EP and SH families. Confirm direction at your first zeroing session before field use. CCW is opposite to many common production scopes. The AZS stop is reached by rotating clockwise back to the stop after dialing up.

Sunshade — Included

The sunshade threads onto the 50mm objective bell to cut glare when shooting with the sun low and behind you, or across open terrain in harsh light. Attach for improved contrast in bright conditions; remove when not needed. Does not affect zero or adjustments.

Quick MIL-to-MOA Conversion Reference

When using VPR holdovers to read corrections in MIL and dialing MOA turrets: multiply MIL by 3.44 for MOA clicks. Common corrections: 1 MIL = 3.44 MOA (14 clicks); 2 MIL = 6.88 MOA (28 clicks); 3 MIL = 10.3 MOA (41 clicks); 5 MIL = 17.2 MOA (69 clicks). A ballistic app set to display both MIL holds and MOA dials can handle this automatically.

Frequently Asked Questions

This scope has a MIL reticle but MOA turrets — is that a problem?

It is a cross-unit configuration, which requires a conversion step when reading a correction from the VPR reticle and dialing it on the turrets: multiply the MIL value by 3.44 to get MOA, then dial the clicks. Whether that is a problem depends on your workflow. If you use the VPR primarily as an aiming and spotting grid and have existing ballistic dope in MOA, the cross-unit setup can work well in practice — your ballistic data already tells you how many MOA to dial, and the VPR gives you precise holds between those dials. If you want a single consistent unit for all corrections, the SH4J-6241VPR (MRAD turrets) delivers a native MIL/MIL workflow where everything reads and dials in the same unit.

What is the difference between VPR and VHR?

The VPR (Variable Precision Reticle) is a MIL grid designed for precision work: ranging using MIL measurements, precise wind estimation from subtensions, and repeatable holdovers across a dense grid. It carries more subtension marks and is optimized for shooters who read and apply corrections methodically. The VHR (Variable Hunter Reticle) is a cleaner, less cluttered design focused on field-speed holdovers with practical reference points for common hunting distances and typical wind drift values. For precision rifle or known-distance work, the VPR. For hunting and fast-acquisition scenarios where a clean sight picture matters more than a full precision grid, the VHR.

Does the SH-4J have a capped or exposed windage turret?

The SH-4J has an exposed, adjustable windage turret with 10 MIL / 34 MOA of total travel. This is unlike the EP-L4 series, which uses a capped set-and-forget windage design. Most shooters will zero windage at the range and leave it, using the VPR’s horizontal subtensions for wind holds in the field. Windage adjustments are available if needed without removing a cap.

What rings fit the SH-4J 6-24x50?

The SH4J-6240VPR requires 34mm scope rings or a 34mm one-piece mount. Standard 30mm rings are incompatible. At 14.1 inches and 50mm objective, select ring height based on your barrel profile and receiver height to ensure clearance. A 20 MOA canted rail can extend the effective use of the 108 MOA elevation travel by pushing the zero point lower in the adjustment range, preserving more elevation for longer-distance dialing.

Is the battery included?

No. The SH-4J uses a CR2032 coin cell for the center illumination of the VPR reticle, which is not included. The sunshade is included. The scope functions fully without the battery as a non-illuminated FFP scope in all lighting conditions where the reticle is visible against the target background.
