What’s on This Pistol
The parts that decide how an AR-15 shoots are Faxon parts, and each one is sold on its own: every card links to its product page, specs, and reviews.
BARREL
Match Series 7.5″ Gunner 300 BLK barrel ›
416-R Stainless, QPQ Nitride, 1:5 twist, pistol-length gas, 5/8x24 muzzle. Every barrel is borescoped, bore and groove air gauged, headspace gauged with GO/NO-GO gauges, and 100% wet magnetic particle inspected before it ships.
RECEIVER SET
Faxon X-Tra Lite forged receiver set ›
Two forgings trued by Faxon and skeletonized to take weight out: the X-milled upper, deleted forward assist, skeletonized rail and magwell, honed bore, tighter lug tolerance, and engraved T-marks. .96 lb as a set (with port door), 2.08 oz lighter than Faxon’s standard forged set. Cobalt Cerakote® finish.
HANDGUARD
Streamline carbon fiber M-LOK 7″ handguard ›
Carbon fiber and aerospace aluminum, M-LOK on all 8 surfaces, free-floated.
GAS BLOCK
Faxon patented adjustable .750" low-profile gas block ›
Patented: 14 detented settings, and the adjustment moves the gas tube, so the screw never sits in carbon. 4140, black flash nitride, 3 set screws.
GAS TUBE
Pistol-length stainless gas tube ›
Faxon’s gas tubes are made from 304 seamless stainless steel tubing.
MUZZLE DEVICE
MuzzLok® Plan B compatible flash hider ›
5/8x24, .375″ bore. Left-hand MuzzLok® timing nut, ready for a Plan B to HUB suppressor adapter.
BOLT CARRIER GROUP
8.5 oz complete, M16 pattern, 9310 bolt, superfinished and nitrided, MPI inspected.

What ION-X Hyperlite Means
ION is Faxon’s lightweight line: pencil and Gunner barrels, Streamline carbon fiber handguards, the Gunner Lightweight BCG paired with Faxon’s patented adjustable gas block, the Schmid® match trigger, and ambidextrous controls. ION-X Hyperlite models go further with Faxon’s skeletonized X-Tra Lite forged receiver set. See every ION (Lightweight) firearm or compare all four lines.
Why 300 BLK in a 7.5″ PDW pistol
300 BLK uses the standard 5.56 bolt and magazines and was built for short barrels and suppressors. The 1:5 twist stabilizes the heaviest subsonic bullets from a short barrel. See Faxon’s 300 Blackout barrel buyer’s guide for length and twist guidance.
Suppressor Ready, Explained
1. MOUNT
Thread a Plan B to HUB adapter (titanium or stainless; extended versions too) onto the MuzzLok® flash hider. It converts the Plan B interface to the 1.375x24 HUB thread.
2. SUPPRESSOR
Thread on a .30 cal HUB-mount can. Faxon’s: HARMONIX® ION .30 (titanium, the lightweight pick), HARMONIX® Sentry .30 (Haynes 282, built for heat), CORESYNC® .30 (removable core).
3. TUNE
Start with the gas block fully open and confirm it runs. Close it one click at a time, a few rounds per click, until the bolt stops locking back on an empty magazine, then open it one or two clicks. Note the count.
4. RUN IT BOTH WAYS
Count back to your unsuppressed setting when the can comes off. The detents hold the setting under recoil.
Adjust with the firearm unloaded and the block cool. Suppressor purchase requirements are listed on each suppressor’s page; federal, state, and local laws apply.
Why a Lightweight Carrier Gets an Adjustable Gas Block
A lighter carrier needs less gas to cycle, and a suppressor adds back-pressure. Without a way to turn gas down, the bolt runs fast and hard: more recoil, more gas to the face, and more wear. Faxon’s rule runs one way: if a build gets a lightweight carrier, it gets an adjustable gas block. This one has both.

ION-X Hyperlite 7.5″ 300 BLK FAQs
Is the Faxon ION-X Hyperlite 7.5″ 1:5 Twist 300 BLK PDW, Cobalt Cerakote® a good AR-15 pistol?
It’s built around the parts that matter most: a Faxon Match Series 416-R Stainless barrel that’s borescoped, air gauged, headspace gauged, and 100% MPI inspected; Faxon’s X-Tra Lite forged receivers; the 5.56 Gunner Lightweight BCG; a Schmid® match trigger; and a free-float M-LOK handguard. It’s assembled in Ohio by the company that makes the barrel, and it’s covered by the Faxon Lifetime Guarantee.
What comes in the box?
The complete PDW pistol, Magpul® PMAG® 30 Gen M2 MOE (5.56/.223) magazine, 300 BLK magazine marker bands, cable lock, chamber flag, owner’s manual. Optics, sling, and suppressor are not included.
What ammunition and magazines does it use?
300 AAC Blackout only. Never chamber 5.56 or .223 in it. Magazines: Standard AR-15 5.56 magazines. Bolt: standard 5.56 / M16-pattern bolt (installed).
Is it suppressor ready?
Yes. It has a MuzzLok® Plan B compatible flash hider (5/8x24, .375″ bore) and Faxon’s patented adjustable gas block. Add a Plan B to HUB adapter and a .30 cal HUB-mount suppressor, then tune the gas: start fully open, close one click at a time until the bolt stops locking back on an empty magazine, and open one or two clicks.
Is this a pistol or a rifle?
It’s sold as a pistol: a 7.5″ barrel with an SB Tactical® SB PDW 3-position pistol brace, not a stock. Laws on AR pistols and pistol braces vary by state and locality and can change, so know and follow the laws where you live. Faxon doesn’t provide legal advice.
Do I need to adjust the gas block?
Not to start shooting. If you add a suppressor or change to very different ammunition, tune it: with the firearm unloaded and the block cool, start fully open, close one click at a time until the bolt stops locking back on an empty magazine, then open one or two clicks. A 3/32″ hex key or flat screwdriver does it.
What’s the difference between ION and ION-X?
Both are Faxon’s lightweight builds: carbon fiber handguards, the Gunner Lightweight BCG, the patented adjustable gas block, and the Schmid® trigger. ION-X Hyperlite models add Faxon’s skeletonized X-Tra Lite forged receiver set, .96 lb as a set.
Nitride or chrome lining: which is better?
Chrome lining still has its place, mainly sustained automatic fire. For the vast majority of shooters, Faxon’s salt-bath QPQ nitride does what they need and more: it hardens the bore and exterior, resists corrosion, adds virtually nothing to the dimensions (a few ten-thousandths of an inch, about a tenth the width of a human hair), and needs little to no break-in.
How does it ship?
To a licensed dealer (FFL). Enter your dealer’s information at checkout. Federal, state, and local laws apply.
Where is it made, and what is the warranty?
Faxon makes the barrel, receivers, gas block, and MuzzLok® device in Greater Cincinnati, Ohio, and assembles the PDW pistol there. It’s covered by the Faxon Lifetime Guarantee.
