When will my order ship?
Trusted Distribution Partner items typically ship within 1–3 business days from our partner's warehouse, separate from any Faxon-fulfilled items in your order. Transit times depend on the carrier and destination.
Will tracking come from Faxon?
Yes — you'll receive a tracking notification from Faxon Firearms when your partner-shipped item leaves the warehouse. If your order also contains Faxon-fulfilled items, you'll receive separate tracking for each shipment.
Can I combine this with other Faxon items in one shipment?
No. Items marked Trusted Distribution Partner ship from a different warehouse than Faxon-fulfilled items and will arrive separately. Each shipment has its own tracking and may arrive on different days.
How do returns work for partner-shipped items?
Returns for Trusted Distribution Partner items are handled by Faxon Customer Service rather than through our standard self-service portal, so we can coordinate the return with our partner on your behalf.
To start a return, contact us at customerservice@faxonfirearms.com or submit a request through our support form and select “Refund / Return.”
Is this product authentic and covered by warranty?
Yes. All Trusted Distribution Partner products are sourced from authorized distributors and are covered by the original manufacturer's warranty. Faxon stands behind every product sold on faxonfirearms.com.
CMMG AR-15 AMBIDEXTROUS MAGAZINE CATCH — 55AFF6E
The standard AR-15 magazine release is a right-handed control — pressing the button requires your trigger finger or an awkward cross-body reach for left-handed shooters. The CMMG Ambidextrous Magazine Catch fixes that with a drop-in replacement that adds a left-side release paddle, letting left-handed shooters drop magazines naturally with their trigger finger without switching hands or contorting their grip. It installs in place of your existing mag catch using the standard receiver hole — no drilling, no permanent modification. Includes a magazine release button and spring, and the low-profile design blends cleanly into any AR lower.
What This Part Does
The CMMG Ambi Mag Catch replaces your existing magazine catch assembly entirely. The left-side release paddle mirrors the function of the standard right-side button, so left-handed shooters can actuate a mag drop with their trigger finger in a natural shooting grip — no hand swap required. Right-handed shooters retain full use of the standard button on the right side. The button included with the kit is designed to blend visually into the receiver rather than stand out as an aftermarket add-on.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does this require any permanent modification to my lower receiver?
No. The CMMG Ambi Mag Catch is a true drop-in replacement that uses the existing magazine catch hole in any mil-spec AR-15 or M16 lower receiver. Installation involves removing your existing magazine catch assembly and installing this one in its place — no drilling, milling, or permanent alteration of any kind.
Will this work on an AR-10 or .308 build?
No. The AR-10 and LR-308 platform use a different magazine catch geometry than the mil-spec AR-15. This catch is designed specifically for AR-15 and M16 pattern lowers. If you have an AR-10 or .308 build, look for a magazine catch designed for that specific pattern.
Does the left-side paddle snag gear or add bulk to the lower?
CMMG designed the left-side paddle to sit low-profile against the receiver rather than protrude significantly. The profile is comparable to other ambi mag catches on the market and should not present snagging issues with most holsters, chest rigs, or slings. As with any ambidextrous control, we recommend confirming holster and accessory clearance with your specific setup before relying on it in the field.
Can right-handed shooters benefit from this too?
Yes. Right-handed shooters retain the standard right-side release button they are used to. The addition of the left-side paddle also means right-handed shooters can activate a mag drop with their support-side thumb without breaking their firing grip — a technique some shooters prefer for faster reloads. The ambi catch simply adds options without removing any existing functionality.
Is installation a beginner-level task?
Magazine catch swaps are one of the more approachable AR lower parts installations. You will need a magazine catch installation tool or a non-marring punch to compress the spring and thread the catch. A basic AR armorers kit covers everything needed. If you are new to AR lower work, there are a number of clear video walkthroughs available, or any gunsmith can install this in a matter of minutes.
