The Faxon Match Series Heavy Fluted 20" .308 Win AR10 barrel is built for shooters who want a precision-forward .308 AR10 barrel that maintains stability through extended strings of fire. With rifle-length gas and a 20-inch length, it’s a strong choice for competition, target shooting, and field-capable precision builds where consistency matters.
Match Series barrels begin with 416-R stainless steel and 5R button rifling. 5R geometry is designed to reduce jacket deformation and support consistent performance while remaining easy to maintain. After rigorous testing, the barrel receives salt bath nitride (QPQ) treatment inside and out to improve wear resistance, corrosion protection, and service life.
The heavy fluted profile increases surface area and helps manage heat while preserving practical rigidity for repeatable precision. A Nickel Teflon coated DPMS/LR-308 compatible extension adds dry lubricity and corrosion resistance at the receiver interface. Finished with a recessed 11-degree target crown and MPI inspection, this barrel is proudly American-made by a family-owned manufacturer in Greater Cincinnati, Ohio.

Opens up w/ heat
I like to accuracy test my semi-auto barrels after warming them up a little as well as starting with a cold gun. While this barrel performs well for me when cold (1.2 MOA 5 round groups, acceptable for my purposes), I get poor performance when warm (slowly fire 1 20 round magazine, reload with 5 rounds of match ammunition and group), opening up to about 2.4 MOA in a lateral string pattern - still good from a military standpoint but a little disappointing. I wonder if this isn't partly due to the stresses introduced by machining out the flutes and if a barrel with less external work done might be better. This barrel strongly prefers heavier ammo, with best performance so far coming from 175 gr. Nosler and SIG loads.

Faxon 20" match 308. Good shooting barrel.
When it showed up there was a bad ding on the shoulder side were the barrel nut makes contact and applies torque to upper reciver. I had to file that away. Fitment to the upper was super tight and I loved that. So as for aesthetics would have been 5 out of 5 easy if not for the dent/ding. Why not ship your match barrels in something better then a bag? That's seriously my only issue as this barrel shoots really well and the bore is seriously nice. FAXON PLEASE UPDATE YOUR PACKAGKING!

Extremely impressed
I purchased this barrel based on several weeks of research and more research, trying to find the best quality I could afford for my build. The packaging and shipping were excellent. The nitride finish is very robust. After following the break-in process, this barrel will certainly out-perform me. From Hornady match ammo to bargain bulk ammo this barrel takes it all and still delivers superb accuracy and very easy cleaning. I will definitely recommend this barrel and Faxon Firearms to anyone. High quality without the ultra-elite price.

Another great barrel
I purchased this barrel several months ago and have been able to put approx 300 rds of match ammo through it.After following Faxon's break in procedure I have been able to consistently shoot 1/2 - 5/8 inch groups at 100 yards and ring 8" and 10" plates at 600 yards with no problem. This is the second barrel I have purchased from Faxon and could'nt be any happier. The other barrel is a 20" 308 pencil on a light weight hunter build. This barrel is sitting on a JD Machine matched upper & lower, Faxon match bolt carrier, SLR adjustable gas block, SLR ultra light handguard, Gamma VG6 break, CNC 3.5 trigger, Magpul PRS Gen3 stock, Vortex Razor HD 5x20. Atlas bipod. My son in law is an active duty Marine Corps Sount Sniper and instructor at Sniper School. He loves this rigle and says it will out shoot their Knights M110 SASS all day long. I'm shooting Hornady 168 BTHP Match and Federal 168 BTHP Sierra Match King.
