PRIMARY ARMS GLx 1x MICROPRISM — GREEN ACSS CYCLOPS RETICLE
The Primary Arms GLx 1x MicroPrism is a close-quarters prism scope that closes the gap between the simplicity of a red dot and the optical quality of a traditional prism. It is built on a wider objective lens and an updated internal design compared to the SLx generation, delivering superior edge-to-edge clarity and true 1x performance at a compact 2.6 inches and 9.1 ounces. The green-illuminated ACSS Cyclops reticle is etched directly into the prism glass, so it works with or without battery power and is a reliable solution for shooters with astigmatism. Thirteen illumination levels — including three dedicated night vision settings — cover every light condition from indoor CQB to full IR flood. AutoLive motion-sensing technology manages battery life automatically, and at setting 5 the GLx MicroPrism has a rated battery life of 14,925 hours. Out of the box, the included mount system offers eight different height configurations from 1-inch centerline for AK platforms and low-comb stocks to over 2-inch centerline for night vision and heads-up sight acquisition.
Why a Prism Scope Over a Red Dot
A red dot projects a reticle onto a lens without any magnification optics in the light path. This works well but has real limitations: a projected dot is not visible to everyone equally, shooters with astigmatism often see a smeared or starburst dot rather than a clean point, and the reticle disappears completely when the battery dies. A prism scope solves all three. The reticle is etched into the glass, so it is always present regardless of battery state. The optics also provide sharper glass quality, better edge-to-edge clarity, and allow for a more complex, permanently precise reticle pattern. The GLx MicroPrism captures these advantages in a package that weighs and mounts like a red dot, with near unlimited eye relief and fast acquisition.
The GLx designation marks Primary Arms’ advanced optics tier, applying premium lens coatings, tighter tolerances, and updated internal engineering to deliver performance that punches above its price point. The GLx 1x MicroPrism is also slimmer in profile than the SLx 1x MicroPrism, and the wider 20.5mm objective provides a larger exit pupil for a more forgiving sight picture under dynamic movement.
ACSS Cyclops Reticle
The ACSS Cyclops features a large outer horseshoe that instantly draws the eye to the center of the reticle for rapid target acquisition, an infinitely precise center chevron for exact shot placement, and a ranging ladder along the bottom for quick distance estimation. The etched design is sized and balanced for true 1x performance — the horseshoe is wide enough to find naturally without searching but does not obscure the target at close range. The green color option offers strong contrast against a variety of backgrounds in daylight conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the ACSS Cyclops reticle and how is it used?
The ACSS Cyclops is Primary Arms’ CQB-optimized reticle for the 1x MicroPrism. It consists of three elements: a large outer horseshoe that draws the eye to the center of the optic naturally during fast target acquisition; an infinitely precise center chevron for exact shot placement at any range; and a bottom ranging ladder for quickly estimating target distance on known-size targets. In practice, the horseshoe works as your gross aiming reference for fast close-range shots, while the chevron at the center is used for precise aimed fire at distance. The reticle is etched into the glass, so it is present and usable in full detail even when the illumination battery is dead or the optic is turned off.
What is AutoLive technology and how does it affect battery life?
AutoLive is Primary Arms’ motion-activated power management system. When the optic is in use and moving — as it would be during any active shooting session or weapon manipulation — the illumination stays active at your last setting. When no motion is detected for a set period, the optic enters a low-power sleep state. When motion resumes, it wakes back up automatically. This means you do not have to manually shut the optic off between uses to preserve battery life, and you do not have to remember to turn it on before you need it. At setting 5, the GLx 1x MicroPrism is rated at 14,925 hours of battery life, which translates to years of always-on storage with AutoLive managing power consumption in the background.
What is the difference between the GLx and SLx MicroPrism?
The GLx is Primary Arms’ advanced optics tier, while the SLx is their standard performance tier. The GLx 1x MicroPrism features a wider objective lens (20.5mm vs. a smaller diameter on the SLx), an updated internal design with superior glass quality and edge-to-edge clarity, and a slimmer overall profile. The GLx also introduces push button illumination controls and an updated Daylight Bright LED implementation. The GLx is the higher-specification option; the SLx is the more value-oriented entry point in the same platform. Note that because of the GLx’s wider objective lens, it will sit slightly higher than the SLx on compatible mounts such as the Unity Tactical FAST MicroPrism Mount.
What are the 8 mounting height options and which one should I use?
The included mounting system uses the MicroPrism footprint and ships with hardware to configure 8 different centerline heights, ranging from approximately 1 inch for AK-pattern rifles and low-comb stocks up to over 2 inches for night vision use or heads-up acquisition preference. The most common centerline heights for AR-pattern rifles are typically in the 1.4" to 1.6" range, which co-witnesses with standard iron sights and provides a consistent cheek weld on mil-spec stocks. If you are running night vision or prefer an elevated heads-up-display style sight picture, the higher configurations are available without purchasing additional parts. Select the height that gives you a natural, consistent cheek weld on your specific rifle and stock combination.
Why is a prism scope better for shooters with astigmatism?
Red dots and holographic sights project an illuminated reticle image using an LED source. Shooters with astigmatism often see this projected dot as a starburst, comet, or smeared blob rather than a clean point, because their cornea distorts the coherent light source. An etched reticle in a prism scope does not have this problem: the reticle is a physical pattern in the glass, not a projected illumination source. What you see through the prism is the reticle lines themselves, which appear with the same sharpness as the rest of the image — your astigmatism affects the entire image equally, so the reticle does not appear worse than the target. This makes prism scopes with etched reticles a common recommendation for shooters who have struggled with standard red dots.
What do the three night vision illumination settings do?
The GLx 1x MicroPrism includes three dedicated NV-compatible illumination levels below the standard daytime brightness range. The Low setting is optimized for very dark environments where any brighter illumination would bloom through a night vision device. The Medium / transitional setting is suited for environments with some ambient light, such as urban operations with streetlights or overcast full-moon conditions. The Flood setting is an IR-mode configuration for use with an IR illuminator and night vision, providing a reticle visible through compatible NVDs. These settings are separate from the 10 standard daylight illumination levels and are accessed by stepping down through the illumination selector below the standard range.
About Primary Arms
Primary Arms is an American optics manufacturer and retailer headquartered in Houston, Texas.
