The Magpul Pro 700 Fixed Stock (MAG997FDE) is the Flat Dark Earth variant of the Pro 700 fixed chassis — the same full-feature precision platform as the MAG997BLK in FDE finish, suited to arid environments, desert terrain, and shooters building a coordinated FDE precision rifle. The chassis centers on a Type III hard anodized machined 6061-T6 billet aluminum V-bedding block, forend, and adjustment hardware, surrounded by FDE-finished injection molded polymer body covers. All specifications are identical to the black MAG997BLK.
The fixed stock format delivers the complete Pro 700 adjustability package — LOP from 13.25" to 15.125", 1" comb height range, butt pad height and cant adjustment, and 0.75" grip trigger reach — without a folding hinge, at $854.95. The chassis is fully ambidextrous via swappable bolt retainer and QD plates (1/8" hex), accepts PMAG 5 and PMAG 10 7.62 AC and most AICS SA magazines, provides 21 M-LOK slots, three QD sling swivel mounts, and is compatible with the Magpul Pro NVM Night Vision Mount sold separately. Two grips are included. Made in the USA.
The Pro 700’s V-bedding block is machined from 6061-T6 billet aluminum with a Type III hard anodize finish. The V-geometry contacts the barreled action along consistent, repeatable surfaces, eliminating the pressure variations of a factory stock that shift point of impact across environmental conditions. The two included 1/4-28x1/2" socket head cap action screws thread into the same machined aluminum assembly every time the rifle is reassembled, maintaining consistent bedding geometry.
The MAG997FDE uses a fixed stock rather than the push-button folding hinge of the MAG802FDE. For shooters in jurisdictions with folding stock restrictions, who prefer a simpler mechanism, or who have no transport need for a folding chassis, the fixed stock delivers the same precision foundation at $95 less than the folding model. One fewer mechanical system, the same adjustability and performance.
The integrated AICS well accepts Magpul PMAG 5 and PMAG 10 7.62 AC short action magazines and most other AICS-pattern SA magazines. The low-profile ambidextrous Melonite-finished steel release is anti-snag by design. The barricade stop at the front of the well prevents forward pressure on the magazine when shooting off a barricade support, maintaining consistent lockup.
The fixed MAG997FDE ambi conversion requires one step: swap the bolt retainer plate and QD sling swivel plate using a 1/8" hex wrench. The comb/cheek riser repositions without tools. The magazine release is ambidextrous with no modification. Simpler than the three-step process on the folding model, and the 1/8" hex wrench is the only tool required.
Full Adjustability — Six Points of Fit
Tool-free LOP knob provides a 1.875" total range for adjustment across shooter sizes, body armor, or clothing layers.
Cheek riser adjusts up to 1" in height with secondary locking knob. Three fore/aft positions (+.375", 0", -.375") for additional fine-tuning.
Anti-slip rubber butt pad adjusts vertically to align the recoil axis with the shooter’s shoulder pocket for shot-to-shot consistency.
Left or right 5-degree butt pad cant matches the shooter’s natural shoulder angle, improving stability and reducing slippage under recoil.
Pistol grip adjusts 0.75" fore/aft to customize trigger-face-to-grip distance for consistent single-stage break.
Standard: 5-degree forward / 7-degree aft with palm swell. Aggressive: 8-degree forward / 20-degree aft. Both in the box.

What is the difference between the MAG997FDE and the MAG802FDE?
Both are FDE Pro 700 chassis for Remington 700 short action, but the MAG997FDE is the fixed stock and the MAG802FDE is the folding stock. The MAG997FDE omits the push-button folding hinge, simplifying the chassis, reducing the ambi conversion to a single plate swap, and reducing the price by $95. All other specifications — AICS well, 21 M-LOK slots, six-point adjustability, aluminum bedding block, barrel compatibility, and NVM compatibility — are identical between the two.
Will this fit my Remington 700 long action?
No — the MAG997FDE is designed for Remington 700 short action receivers only. Short action accommodates cartridges to approximately 2.87" OAL (e.g., .308 Win, 6.5 Creedmoor, .243 Win). For long action calibers, consult Magpul’s lineup for the appropriate Pro 700 configuration.
What magazines does the AICS mag well accept?
Optimized for Magpul PMAG 5 7.62 AC and PMAG 10 7.62 AC short action magazines. Also accepts most other AICS-pattern short action magazines from manufacturers building to the AICS standard. AICS long action magazines will not fit the short action well.
Is the folding stock legal in my state?
The MAG997FDE is a fixed stock — there is no folding capability and no folding stock legal question applies to this product. For state-specific questions about the AICS detachable magazine or other features, consult applicable law or a local attorney.
What night vision devices are compatible?
