The Magpul Hunter 700 Stock (MAG483ODG) is the Olive Drab Green variant of Magpul’s drop-in precision upgrade for right-hand Remington 700 short action rifles — delivering a cast aluminum V-bedding block, free-floating barrel channel, and modern ergonomic features in a traditional hunting stock form factor in ODG finish. The ODG color suits woodland, vegetation, and mixed terrain environments and shooters building a coordinated ODG-finish rifle. All specifications are identical to the black MAG483BLK.

The Type III hard anodized A380 cast aluminum V-bedding block provides repeatable action support that eliminates the inconsistency of a factory polymer stock. The tapered beam forend free-floats compatible Remington factory barrels and aftermarket barrels up to 0.920" in diameter. LOP adjusts from 13" to 15" via included 0.50" spacers, and the stock ships with a 0.25" cheek riser installed. Eight M-LOK slots provide forend accessory mounting, and the stock accepts the separately available Magpul Bolt Action Magazine Well 700 for AICS detachable magazine capability. Made in the USA at $256.45.

V-Bedding Block — Cast Aluminum Upgrade

The A380 cast aluminum V-bedding block, Type III hard anodized and machine finished, supports the Remington 700 action along consistent, repeatable surfaces — a significant improvement over the variable polymer-to-action contact of the factory stock. At the Hunter 700’s price point, this bedding block delivers precision chassis fundamentals without the cost of machined billet.

Free-Float up to 0.920”

The tapered beam forend free-floats the barrel, clearing compatible factory Remington profiles and aftermarket barrels up to 0.920" in diameter. This eliminates forend-to-barrel contact and the pressure variations it introduces across different shooting positions, sling tension, and bipod loading.

Spacer-Based LOP — 13” to 15”

Included 0.50" spacers allow LOP adjustment across a 2-inch range. Spacers stack between the stock body and butt-pad. Once set, the spacer stack is rigid and does not loosen under recoil — a reliable system for field conditions.

AICS Mag Well Upgrade Path

Ships with factory-style internal magazine but accepts the Magpul Bolt Action Magazine Well 700 (sold separately) for conversion to AICS-pattern detachable magazines (PMAG 5 / PMAG 10 7.62 AC). The upgrade path is built into the platform without requiring a new stock purchase.

Will the Hunter 700 fit a left-hand Remington 700?

No — the MAG483ODG is designed for right-hand Remington 700 short action rifles only. For left-hand Remington 700 actions, the Magpul Pro 700 series (MAG997 fixed or MAG802 folding) is ambidextrous and configures for left-hand use via a bolt retainer plate swap.

Can I add a detachable magazine to the Hunter 700?

Yes — the Hunter 700 accepts the Magpul Bolt Action Magazine Well 700, sold separately. This enables use of AICS-pattern short action magazines including PMAG 5 and PMAG 10 7.62 AC. The stock ships with a factory-style internal magazine by default.

Will my aftermarket barrel fit?

The forend free-floats barrels up to 0.920" in diameter. Factory Remington and most lightweight to medium aftermarket hunting profiles fit within this clearance. Bull barrels and heavy tactical contours exceeding 0.920" will contact the forend. Measure your barrel diameter at the forend entry point before purchasing.

How do I adjust LOP and cheek height?

LOP is adjusted by adding or removing 0.50" spacers between the stock body and butt-pad (included set covers 13"–15"). Cheek height is adjusted by swapping the installed 0.25" riser for optional 0.00", 0.50", or 0.75" risers available separately from Magpul.
