Faxon 20" Pencil Profile AR10 Barrel, 308 Win, Nitrided
FaxonFaxon's pencil barrels are renowned for their lightweight performance. Fully stress relieved, we carefully designed the barrel's taper to remove weight while maintaining performance. The result is the lightest barrel in the industry - and one we are fully confident to put our Faxon shield on.
Faxon's .308 barrels feature 1/10 twist rifling for full stabilization across all common .308 loadings. Our barrels are chambered to .308 Winchester SAAMI specification for maximum versatility. Manufactured in-house, these barrels are fully stress relieved, air-gauge tested, and 11 degree target crowned to ensure superior accuracy.
Quality is imbued into our barrels from the start. We start with the best materials, either certified 4150 Mil-Spec steel or 416-R Stainless. From there, each barrel goes through a battery of tests at each operation until finished in Nitride and final inspected. All barrels are individually checked for headspace by precision custom hardened gauges.

AR-10 pencil Barrel
Fits perfectly into my AR-10 build. Gives great accuracy while saving a lot of weight.

Sub MOA Barrel, purchase with bolt and carrier recommended.
I custom build to achieve ultralight weights in AR 308 rifles. With my hand loads in 165gr Hornady Interbonds it grouped 1/2 MOA at 100yds with Varget, Winchester brass, Winchester primers. 2.800" OAL and lee factory crimp. This is a quality barrel. The chamber was a little large, so use a rcbs full length small base die for resizing brass. If you are custom building, this is a very good barrel to use. If reloading, keep your pressure in the lower 45,000 PSI to 52,000 PSI range for an AR 308 and DO NOT USE max loads off reloading charts. Those are for bolt action rifles that can handle more pressure. AR 308's use the lower charge zone on reloading charts with H4895, IMR 4895, IMR 4064, and Varget powders doing very well in this barrel.

Very Satisfied
Was trying to put together a light weight 308 hunter. Ended up at 7.9 lbs empty. Faxon 20" Pencil barrel, Faxon complete bolt carrier group, (factory head spaced), Gamma VG6 Break, SLR adjustable gas block, SLR Ultralight Handguard and CMC 3.5 trigger on DPMS pattern (JD Machine Tech) upper and lower. I could not be any happier. I was a little skeptic buying the pencil barrel, but that thing performed, multiple 5 shot 1/2 - 3/4" groups at 100 yards using Hornady 168 BTHP Match. My 21 year old daughter who never shoots, pulled off a 1.5" 10 shot group at 100 yards. I could not be happier with this barrel and I cannot wait till Faxon comes out with their match grade barrel. A+
