RUNDOWN:

In this episode, we sit down with Zak Keehn, the newest member of the Clandestine Media Group photography team. Zak is part of their “Shooter to Shooter” internship program, a program CEO Luke Peelgrane has been running for a few years now. The program is an opportunity for veterans to find a new career in the photography field. The CMG team will work with Zak, teaching him the basics of photography and taking him on their many incredible photoshoots for companies like Black Rifle Coffee Company, CZ, and… well, us! We’ve had the opportunity to sponsor Zak on this 6 month journey from amateur to expert, and we’ll be providing him with plenty of Faxon product to practice his skills on.

Zak tells us in this episode about his military origins and how his path has led to CMG. Coming from a military family, there was never a question – Zak wanted to be in the military and enlisted at age 17 to join the Marine Corps. After he left the military he sought out a “community” as so many veterans do. Zak detailed to us some of the hardships of the transition – one of the most basic being that he “had to learn how to cook, since all my meals were no longer just provided.” After working at Rugged Suppressors, he was seeking a new opportunity and new community. That’s where Clandestine Media came in.

Zak is eager to learn the ins and outs of photography and will be learning from some of the best. Clandestine is unique in the sense that all the employees there are veterans, something that drew Zak to the program in the first place. In fact, all previous graduates of the Shooter to Shooter program have ended up staying on the Clandestine Media Group staff full time at the completion of their 6 month internship. Emily has gotten to work with Clandestine many times over the last few years and she spoke a bit on why that is – the people at CMG are some of the greatest people in the world. Here at Faxon, we use a lot of media companies and photographers to help us do our jobs, and we’re happy to call Clandestine one such company.

Where’s Zak off to next? Well, he’s headed on his first shoot to a ranch in Colorado for some other companies in the industry, where he’ll get to learn from the CMG team and test out his skills on some amazing products in some amazing places. More upcoming trips include a tactical boat shoot in California and capturing some hunting content in Montana. As Zak continues on his journey, he’ll be practicing his skills on our Faxon Firearms products and you can expect to see some of his shots on our news feed very soon.
