Does Faxon manufacture in-house or outsource?
Faxon is vertically integrated: machining, finishing, inspection and assembly happen in one facility in the Greater Cincinnati, Ohio area. Barrel manufacturing in particular is entirely in-house — drilling, rifling, stress relieving, contouring, chambering, fluting, finishing and inspection.
Every capability described on this page belongs to Faxon Firearms and is exercised in Faxon Firearms' own facility. The business began inside Faxon Machining in 2012, but Faxon Firearms and Faxon Machining are separate, unaffiliated companies today. Faxon Firearms' ISO 9001:2015 certification, ITAR registration, FFL, SOT and quality system are its own.
What certifications and registrations does Faxon hold?

Faxon does not claim AS9100 certification.
What inspection does every Faxon barrel go through?
Faxon's stated standard is 100 percent inspection, not batch sampling.
- Wet magnetic particle inspection (MPI) — performed in-house on every rifle barrel. A non-destructive test that detects surface and near-surface flaws in ferromagnetic material.
- Air gauging — bore diameter verified along the full length of the barrel.
- GO/NO-GO headspace verification — 100 percent.
- Atmospheric stress relief — in-house ovens, run between the drilling and rifling operations and the lathe and milling operations, to relieve the internal stresses cold-forming leaves behind.
- Comparator inspection — thread form, chamber dimensions and exterior contour checked against the engineering drawing.
- CMM — coordinate measuring machine, three-dimensional dimensional verification.
- Optical shaft measurement — diameter, roundness, concentricity and runout measured to micron-level accuracy.
What manufacturing processes does Faxon run?
- CNC machining of barrels, receivers, slides, gas blocks, muzzle devices and components
- Deep-hole drilling and reaming of barrel blanks
- Button rifling, including 5R
- Honing and lapping of bores
- Fluting, including Flame Fluted®, spiral and heavy fluting
- Chambering across the full current cartridge range
- Barrel extension installation with per-operator quality routing
- Additive manufacturing — 3D printing of Haynes® 282 superalloy suppressor cores
- Finishing, including salt bath nitride, manganese phosphate, chrome lining, DLC, PVD, Cerakote® and anodizing
- Complete firearm assembly and function testing
