EXOS® Angled-Port Compensator • Glock® 43X / 48 • 9mm

Faxon EXOS-533 Pistol Compensator for Glock® 43X & 48

Glock® 43X • 48  |  1/2x28  |  6061 Aluminum  |  SKU: FF-P-A-COMP-SS-G-02

The EXOS-533 is Faxon’s compensator for the Glock® 43X and 48, the slimline Glocks® with the longer barrel and rounded slide. A single expansion chamber with three ports angled at 45° vectors gas up and forward to drive the muzzle down as the slide cycles — it cut muzzle rise 33% on a Glock® 48 in Faxon’s Ransom-rest testing, the largest reduction of any EXOS® model and the lowest rise of every compensator in the test. At 0.865″ wide and under an ounce, it is sized to the slimline slide so it sits flush on a Faxon threaded barrel and stays carry-friendly. Machined from 6061 aluminum, black anodized, and made in the USA.

−33% MUZZLE RISE

Measured in a Ransom rest on a Glock® 48 with 115 gr 9mm. Lowest of the comps tested.

45° ANGLED PORTS

Three ports catch gas earlier than straight-up porting and push the muzzle down, not just sideways.

CARRY-SIZED

0.865″ wide with a rounded top to match the 43X / 48 slide. Adds 1.125″ ahead of the slide on a Faxon barrel; under an ounce.

NO GUNSMITH

Threads on in minutes. Thread locker, set screws, and the 1/16″ wrench are in the box.

What the EXOS-533 Does

A pistol compensator threads onto the muzzle and redirects propellant gas as it leaves the bore. Because the bore of a Glock® 48 sits above your hand, recoil rotates the muzzle upward — muzzle flip, and a light slimline carry pistol shows more of it than a full-size gun. The EXOS-533 uses that same gas to push the muzzle back down, so the sights settle faster and follow-up shots come sooner. It does not reduce the cartridge’s total recoil energy; it changes the direction the muzzle moves.

EXOS® does this with a single expansion chamber and three ports angled at 45°. Straight-up ports only act on gas after it has left the bore axis; the angled EXOS ports catch it earlier and vector it up and forward, so more of the available energy goes into counteracting flip. A single chamber keeps the comp short and light, which matters on a carry or duty pistol where a long, heavy comp changes how the slide cycles.

The 533 is not a scaled-down double-stack comp. It is cut around the 43X and 48’s own dimensions — their barrel diameter, their 0.87″ slide with its rounded top edges, and a guide rod that sits close to the bore — so the body is 0.865″ wide with matching rounded corners, the bore is sized to the 43X / 48 barrel, and the guide-rod relief clears the recoil assembly through the full slide stroke. The 43X and 48 share the same slide and muzzle geometry (the 48 just carries a longer barrel), so one comp fits both. The original 43 has a different slide profile and gets its own model, the EXOS-523.

Fitment

Engineered and tested on Fit
Glock® 48 Yes — the test host
Glock® 43X Yes
Glock® 43 No — use EXOS-523
Glock® 17 / 19 / 34 No — use EXOS-513 (Gen 3), EXOS-543 (Gen 4), or EXOS-553 (Gen 5)
SIG® P365 / P365 XL No — use EXOS-525
M&P® Shield / Shield Plus No — use EXOS-524

Requires a 1/2x28 threaded barrel. The EXOS-533 is dimensioned around Faxon’s Glock® 43X and 48 threaded barrels, where it sits flush with the slide. On other 1/2x28 barrels it will function normally; a muzzle protrusion of 0.600″ or less keeps the flush look.

Glock® 43X and 48 only. The original 43 uses the EXOS-523; the 42 (.380) is not supported.

Tested Performance

Faxon measured the EXOS-533 in a Ransom rest on a Glock® 48, firing 115 gr 9mm and recording the muzzle’s peak upward rotation in degrees with a bare threaded barrel and with the comp installed. Leading aftermarket compensators were run on the same host under the same conditions.

Muzzle rise vs. bare muzzle

#1

Lowest rise of the comps tested

31.1° → 20.9°

Peak muzzle rise, bare vs. EXOS-533

Averages of recorded shots on the Glock® 48 host. The 43X shares the 48’s slide and muzzle geometry; only barrel length differs. Results vary with ammunition, recoil spring, and grip.

Installation

1. Unload and field-strip the pistol. Clean the barrel threads and the comp bore.

2. Apply the included thread locker to the barrel’s muzzle threads. Thread the comp on by hand until it seats, then back off just enough to point the ports straight up (12 o’clock).

3. Snug the two 6-32 set screws with the 1/16″ wrench to index the comp. No thread locker on the set screws; do not over-torque into the aluminum body.

4. Reassemble. Cycle the slide by hand to confirm the comp clears the guide rod and the slide returns fully to battery, then confirm function with your carry or range ammunition.

Built as a pair

Pair It With a Faxon Glock® 43X / 48 Threaded Barrel

The EXOS-533 is dimensioned around Faxon’s threaded Glock® 43X and 48 barrels, where the thread shoulder position and muzzle protrusion let the comp sit flush with the slide with no gap and no overhang. Faxon 43X and 48 barrels come in two lines — Match Series in 416-R stainless and Duty Series in 4150 CMV — both threaded 1/2x28.

EXOS-533 FAQs

Which pistols does the EXOS-533 fit?

The Glock® 43X and 48 with a 1/2x28 threaded barrel. It was engineered and function-tested on both. The original 43 uses the EXOS-523; the 17, 19, and 34 use the EXOS-513, 543, or 553 depending on generation.

How much does it reduce muzzle flip?

In Faxon’s Ransom-rest testing on a Glock® 48 with 115 gr 9mm, the EXOS-533 reduced peak muzzle rise by 33% versus a bare threaded barrel — from 31.1° to 20.9° — the lowest rise of every compensator in the test and the largest reduction of any EXOS® model.

Does one comp fit both the 43X and the 48?

Yes. The 43X and 48 share the same slide and the same barrel diameter and muzzle geometry; the 48 simply carries a longer barrel. The EXOS-533 fits both. The original 43 has a different slide profile, so it uses the EXOS-523 instead. Same porting on both models, different body.

Will it sit flush with my slide?

On a Faxon Glock® 43X or 48 threaded barrel, yes. On other 1/2x28 barrels, it sits flush when the muzzle protrudes 0.600″ or less past the slide; with more protrusion it still works but stands off from the slide.

Do I need a different recoil spring?

Usually not with standard-pressure or +P ammunition. A compensator bleeds off gas that would otherwise help drive the slide, so very light target loads can occasionally fail to lock the slide back on the last round. Step up to a standard 115–124 gr load first; a slightly lighter recoil spring is the next option for shooters who run light loads exclusively.

Will my holster still fit?

Installed, the EXOS-533 adds 1.125″ ahead of the slide and no width beyond it. Open-bottom holsters generally work as-is; closed-toe and appendix holsters need to be cut for a compensator, and most holster makers offer a comp option for the Glock® 43X and 48.

Does it work with a red dot or suppressor-height sights?

Yes. The single-chamber body keeps a low profile above the bore, so it does not block standard-height sights or a slide-mounted optic. The ports vent upward, so expect some visible gas in the sight picture on bright days, which is normal for any top-ported comp.

    Great comp

Posted by Jesse Beisner on Feb 22nd 2022

Comp looks great. Love the look of it on my glock 48. Easy instal, just thread it on and tighten the set screws. Great price compared to what looks like the average of between 100-110 for others.
