Lock Mode freezes the HS407C-X2’s brightness setting so that button presses do not change it. On a carry or duty pistol, the optic’s controls can be inadvertently actuated during holster draw, reholstering, gear manipulation, or contact with clothing. Without a lock, repeated unintentional button contact can cycle the reticle to a brightness level that is too dim for the lighting conditions at the critical moment. Lock Mode eliminates this failure mode entirely. Once set to the appropriate brightness, activate Lock Mode and the setting is held until deliberately unlocked. Lock Mode does not affect any other function; the optic continues to operate normally including Shake Awake and auto brightness within the locked setting.

These are two separate functions that both use the solar panel.
