Shake Awake is Holosun’s motion-sensing auto-sleep technology. When the optic senses no movement for a set period, it powers down to conserve battery. The moment the rifle is picked up or moved, an internal accelerometer detects the motion and instantly restores full brightness — no button press required. This extends battery life dramatically while ensuring the optic is always ready when you need it. The response time is fast enough that you will not notice any delay in normal use.

The ARO is Holosun’s evolution of the 403/503 platform, designed specifically around a 22mm housing that integrates seamlessly with Holosun’s magnifier series. The 22mm profile also brings a new 1.63" lower 1/3 co-witness pedestal mount in the box, where 503-series optics typically require a separate mount purchase to achieve that height. The ARO is available as a dot-only or Multi-Reticle System (MRS) version; the ARORD2 is the 2 MOA red dot-only variant.

Co-witness describes the alignment of the red dot and the rifle’s iron sights when both are visible at the same time. Lower 1/3 co-witness means the iron sights appear in the lower third of the optic’s window rather than centered. This keeps the red dot in an uncluttered field of view during normal use while still allowing you to reference your iron sights if the optic fails. The included 1.63" pedestal mount is designed to achieve this height on a standard AR-15 with mil-spec iron sights.

Yes. The ARO series was designed specifically to work with Holosun’s magnifier lineup. The 22mm housing geometry is optimized for this pairing. It will also work with third-party magnifiers that use the Aimpoint Micro footprint or a compatible mount system. For the best integration, Holosun’s own HM3X or similar magnifiers are the intended match.

The ARORD2 includes 2 dedicated night vision brightness settings in addition to its 10 daylight settings. These NV settings reduce the reticle brightness to a level compatible with night vision devices, preventing the dot from blooming or washing out the NV image. Holosun lists the sight as night vision compatible; for specific device compatibility, confirm with your NV device manufacturer or contact Holosun directly.
