FAXON TWENTY-TOUCAN® .22 CAL MODULAR SUPPRESSOR
Faxon⚠️ Suppressor Transfer Acknowledgment
Federal law requires all suppressor purchases to be transferred to a licensed SOT holder.
The Faxon Twenty-Toucan® is a modular, fully serviceable suppressor built for more than just rimfire. Machined from 17-4 PH stainless steel with a black nitride finish, it’s full-auto rated for .17 HMR, .22 LR, .22 Mag, and 5.7x28mm. Two configurations from the same serialized can—short mode (3.87″, 5.1 oz) for pistols and compactness, full mode (5.78″, 8 oz) for maximum suppression. Six included baffles—three standard and three perforated—let you tune tone, flash, and backpressure to match your platform. Tinkering encouraged.
Independently verified hearing-safe at the 2025 Thunderbeast Silencer Summit—131.95 dB at muzzle (27.7 dB reduction), 133.06 dB at shooter’s ear (20.4 dB reduction). Below the 140 dB hearing-damage threshold at all positions. Tested alongside 27 competing .22 suppressors under identical standardized conditions.
Two Suppressors in One
Short Configuration
3.87″ • 5.1 oz • 3 baffles. Main body with end cap threaded directly to the front. Compact and balanced for suppressed pistols, backpack guns, and hosts where overall length matters most.
Full Configuration
5.78″ • 8 oz • 6 baffles. Extension tube threads onto the main body for three additional baffles. Up to 28.8 dB reduction on a rifle platform—quiet enough that the action cycling is louder than the report.
Switching takes about 30 seconds with the included .50 cal Challenge Coin tool. Faxon also offers a free 3D-printable end cap removal tool.
Baffle Tuning: Tinkering Encouraged
Three standard baffles and three perforated (vented) baffles ship with every Twenty-Toucan®. Mix and match in any order to change tone, flash signature, gas management, and overall suppression character. Perforated baffles near the breech reduce backpressure and blowback; near the muzzle they reduce visible flash. Start with all standard baffles for maximum suppression, then experiment until you find your setup.
Why 17-4 PH Stainless Steel?
Most .22 suppressors are built around rimfire pressures alone. The Twenty-Toucan® isn’t—its full-auto rating covers .22 Mag and 5.7x28mm, cartridges that generate significantly higher pressures and temperatures than .22 LR. Faxon chose 17-4 PH over lighter aluminum or titanium because it delivers the structural strength to handle sustained automatic fire from higher-pressure cartridges without fatiguing, cracking, or deforming. The black nitride finish is a thermochemical surface treatment that diffuses nitrogen into the steel itself—it won’t peel, chip, or separate the way traditional coatings can over time.
2025 Silencer Summit Results

Cleaning & Maintenance
Clean internal components every 300–500 rounds. Rimfire ammunition deposits significantly more fouling than centerfire rounds. Use the Challenge Coin to unscrew the end cap, pour out the baffles, clean each component with standard firearm solvent and non-abrasive brushes, then reassemble with cup ends facing the muzzle. Ultrasonic cleaning is permitted. Avoid harsh solvents that could affect the nitride finish.
NFA Transfer Information
The $200 tax stamp fee has been eliminated, but suppressors are still regulated under the NFA. After purchase, email your SOT information to NFA@FaxonFirearms.com with your order ID as the subject line within 24 hours. The buyer is responsible for all transfer fees. Current eForm 4 processing times are significantly faster than they were a few years ago.
Frequently Asked Questions
What calibers is the Twenty-Toucan® compatible with?
The Twenty-Toucan® is rated for .17 HMR, .22 LR, .22 Mag, and 5.7x28mm. All four calibers are full-auto rated. There is no barrel length restriction for .17 HMR, .22 LR, or .22 Mag; 5.7x28mm requires a minimum 5″ barrel. Any firearm in these calibers with 1/2x28 muzzle threads is compatible.
What is the difference between the short and full configuration?
Short configuration uses the main body with 3 baffles and the end cap threaded directly to the front (3.87″, 5.1 oz). Full configuration adds the extension tube and 3 additional baffles (5.78″, 8 oz). Short is compact and balanced for pistol use; full delivers maximum suppression—up to 28.8 dB reduction on a rifle platform. Switching takes about 30 seconds with the included .50 Cal Challenge Coin tool.
Why is the Twenty-Toucan® heavier than some .22 suppressors?
The Twenty-Toucan® is machined from 17-4 PH stainless steel because it’s full-auto rated for .22 Mag and 5.7x28mm—cartridges that generate significantly higher pressures than .22 LR. Many lighter .22 suppressors use aluminum or titanium optimized exclusively for rimfire. The Twenty-Toucan’s weight is the structural margin that makes four calibers and full-auto ratings possible across the suppressor’s lifetime.
How did the Twenty-Toucan® perform at the 2025 Silencer Summit?
The Twenty-Toucan® recorded 131.95 dB at muzzle left (27.7 dB reduction) and 133.06 dB at shooter’s ear (20.4 dB reduction) at the 2025 Thunderbeast Silencer Summit—below the 140 dB hearing-damage threshold at all positions. Tested alongside 27 other .22 suppressors under identical standardized conditions with standard velocity .22 LR on a Sig P322 platform.
How do the standard and perforated baffles differ?
Standard (non-perforated) baffles provide maximum sound reduction and the deepest tone. Perforated (vented) baffles have holes that change gas flow—near the breech they reduce backpressure and blowback, near the muzzle they reduce visible flash. Mix and match all six baffles in any order to tune the suppressor to your preference. Tinkering encouraged.
How often should I clean the Twenty-Toucan®?
Clean internal components every 300–500 rounds. Rimfire ammunition deposits significantly more lead, wax, and carbon fouling than centerfire rounds. Use standard firearm cleaning solvent, non-abrasive brushes, or ultrasonic cleaning. The fully removable baffle stack makes cleaning a five-minute job.
Is the $200 NFA tax stamp still required?
The $200 tax stamp fee has been eliminated. Suppressors are still regulated under the NFA, and you still need to submit an ATF eForm 4 through a licensed dealer. After purchase, email your SOT information to NFA@FaxonFirearms.com with your order ID within 24 hours. Current eForm 4 processing times are significantly faster than they were a few years ago.
What warranty does the Twenty-Toucan® have?
The Twenty-Toucan® is covered by the Faxon Lifetime Guarantee. If you experience a defect in materials or workmanship, contact Faxon Customer Service for resolution. Faxon Firearms is an ISO 9001:2015 certified manufacturer based in Greater Cincinnati, OH.
