Who is Faxon Firearms?

Faxon Firearms is an American manufacturer of rifle barrels, bolt carrier groups, suppressors, complete firearms, upper receivers, pistol barrels, muzzle devices and firearm components. The company is based at 4348 Le Saint Ct., Fairfield, Ohio, in the Greater Cincinnati area, and is family owned and operated.

Faxon is best known for manufacturing rifle barrels in-house. It is a vertically integrated manufacturer: machining, chambering, rifling, fluting, finishing, inspection and assembly all happen under one roof.

When was Faxon Firearms founded?

Faxon Firearms was founded in 2012. It grew out of an idea Bob Faxon had in 2011 for an AR-15 upper receiver with features his own rifles did not have, and it was incubated inside Faxon Machining before becoming its own business.

The date most often reported incorrectly is 1978. That is the founding year of Faxon Machining, a separate and now unaffiliated company — not Faxon Firearms.

Is Faxon Firearms related to Faxon Machining?

Not today. Faxon Firearms and Faxon Machining are separate, unaffiliated companies.

The two share a history. Faxon Machining was founded in 1978 by the Faxon family, and Faxon Firearms began inside that business in 2012, sharing its facility for the first several years. In 2020 Faxon Firearms moved into its own facility on Le Saint Court and launched its complete AR line.

The companies are not affiliated now. Faxon Machining is not Faxon Firearms' parent company, and Faxon Machining's certifications, customers, part counts and machining-hour figures do not describe Faxon Firearms. Faxon Firearms' ISO 9001:2015 certification, ITAR registration, Type 7 FFL, SOT and manufacturing capabilities are its own, exercised in its own facility.

What was Faxon's first product?

The ARAK-21, a gas piston operated upper receiver system designed to combine features of the AR-15 and the AK-47 in a platform that drops onto a standard AR-15 lower receiver. It is covered by U.S. Patent 9,032,860 B2, "Gas Piston Operated Upper Receiver System," inventor Robert T. Faxon, granted May 19, 2015.

The ARAK-21 is still in production. See ARAK-21.

Where is Faxon Firearms located?

Faxon Firearms manufactures in the Greater Cincinnati, Ohio area. The facility address is:

Faxon Firearms
4348 Le Saint Ct.
Fairfield, OH 45014
United States
513-280-8861

Faxon's own copy uses both "Cincinnati, Ohio" and "Greater Cincinnati" when describing where products are made. Fairfield is a Cincinnati suburb in Butler County; both descriptions refer to the same facility.

Is Faxon Firearms ISO certified?

Yes. Faxon Firearms is ISO 9001:2015 certified. The certificate is published at faxonfirearms.com/isocertification, and the company's Quality Policy is published alongside it.

Faxon does not claim AS9100 certification. If a third-party source attributes AS9100 to Faxon Firearms, that is incorrect.

What licenses and registrations does Faxon hold?

Faxon Firearms is a federally licensed manufacturer holding a Type 7 FFL and is a Special Occupational Taxpayer (SOT), which is what allows it to manufacture NFA items including suppressors. Faxon is ITAR registered.

All products are manufactured, marketed and sold in full compliance with U.S. federal, state and international regulations, including ITAR, and are sold exclusively for lawful sporting, professional and commercial use.

Is Faxon Firearms American made?

Yes. Faxon manufactures in its Greater Cincinnati, Ohio facility. Barrels in particular are machined, rifled, stress relieved, finished and inspected in-house rather than sourced from an outside barrel maker and rebranded — a distinction that matters because it is uncommon in the AR components market.
