The Faxon Superfinished 7.62x39 Type 1 Bolt Carrier Group (Nitride) is engineered to deliver reliable performance in AR-15 rifles chambered for 7.62x39. Treating “MIL-SPEC” as the baseline, Faxon refines materials, inspection, and finishing processes to meet the demands of shooters running this challenging cartridge.
This BCG features a .125 Type 1 bolt face machined from 9310 tool steel. The bolt is fully MPI tested, heat treated, and shot peened to MIL-SPEC standards. Bolt lugs are chamfered to promote reliable cycling—even with high-pressure loads and fast action speeds.
The bolt and carrier are treated with salt bath nitride to increase surface hardness, reduce friction, and provide superior corrosion resistance compared to traditional chrome or phosphate finishes. Faxon’s Superfinish further reduces fouling and enhances smoothness of operation.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does “Type 1” mean for 7.62x39 bolts?
Type 1 refers to the .125 bolt face depth used for standard AR-15 7.62x39 applications. Always confirm compatibility with your barrel before installation.
Is this bolt carrier group full-auto compatible?
Yes. This is an M16-pattern carrier that maintains the full-auto trip sear and is compatible with full-auto fire control groups and many modern trigger systems.
Why is nitride used instead of phosphate or chrome?
Salt bath nitride increases surface hardness, reduces friction, and provides superior corrosion resistance—resulting in smoother cycling and easier cleaning.
