Match Series AR-15 Barrel

FAXON MATCH SERIES 14.5" FLAME FLUTED® .223 WYLDE AR-15 BARREL

14.5" Length .223 Wylde 416R Stainless 5R Rifling Flame Fluted® Mid-Length Gas Nitride Inside & Out Nickel Teflon M4 Extension

The Faxon Match Series 14.5" Flame Fluted® .223 Wylde AR-15 Barrel brings together standout styling, premium materials, and serious performance in one of the most distinctive barrels in the Faxon lineup. Built from 416R stainless steel and shaped with Faxon’s patented Flame Fluted® design, this barrel is made for shooters who want a rifle that looks exceptional without giving up the performance expected from a true Match Series barrel.

The Flame Fluted® profile reduces weight, increases surface area, and gives the barrel a bold, unmistakable look while preserving the rigidity needed for precision shooting. It is not just a visual signature — it is a purposeful design approach that helps keep the rifle lively in the hands while still supporting consistent accuracy.

The .223 Wylde chamber gives you the versatility modern AR shooters want: match-oriented precision with .223 Remington and safe compatibility with 5.56 NATO ammunition. Combined with 5R button rifling and a 1:8 twist, this barrel is built to stabilize a broad range of popular bullet weights while helping reduce jacket deformation and fouling compared to conventional rifling geometries.

Faxon also pairs the barrel with a Nickel Teflon-coated M4 barrel extension for smoother feeding, enhanced lubricity, and a tighter-feeling receiver fit. The barrel is salt bath nitrided inside and out, giving this 416R stainless platform a durable, corrosion-resistant finish that helps bridge the gap between match precision and hard-use longevity.

Like other Faxon Match Series barrels, this one is built around a disciplined quality process: stress relieved, air-gauge tested, MPI inspected, and headspace verified. That attention to detail helps make this barrel an excellent fit for premium AR-15 builds where precision, reliability, and refined aesthetics all matter.

Pin & Weld Note: 14.5" AR-15 barrels are commonly paired with a compliant muzzle device to reach a 16" overall barrel length when pinned and welded. Always verify muzzle device added length and applicable federal, state, and local laws before assembly.

Best for: premium AR-15 builds, recce-style rifles, general-purpose carbines, and shooters who want Match Series precision with a distinctive look.

FAQs

What does Flame Fluted® mean?

Flame Fluted® refers to Faxon’s patented barrel design, which combines reduced weight, increased surface area, and a distinctive appearance in one engineered profile.

Why choose .223 Wylde instead of 5.56 NATO or .223 Remington?

.223 Wylde is popular because it blends match-minded precision with safe compatibility for 5.56 NATO ammunition, making it one of the most versatile chamber options for AR-15 shooters.

Can a stainless barrel really be nitrided?

Yes. This barrel is built from 416R stainless steel and then receives a salt bath nitride treatment inside and out. That gives shooters the precision-focused appeal of 416R with added wear resistance and corrosion protection.

What rifling does this barrel use?

This barrel uses 5R button rifling with a 1:8 twist rate, making it a strong all-around option for a broad range of .223 Remington and 5.56 NATO loads.

What gas system and gas block size does it use?

This barrel uses a mid-length gas system and a .750" gas block journal, making it compatible with common .750 AR-15 gas blocks.

What muzzle threads does it use?

The muzzle is threaded 1/2x28, the standard thread pitch for most .223/5.56 AR-15 muzzle devices and many suppressor mounts.

Is this a good barrel for a pin-and-weld build?

Yes. A 14.5" barrel is a common starting point for a pin-and-weld rifle build. Just make sure the chosen muzzle device adds enough overall length to meet legal requirements before permanent attachment.

What quality checks are performed on this barrel?

Faxon Match Series barrels are stress relieved, air-gauge tested, MPI inspected, and headspace verified before they leave the factory.

    match series AR barrel

I haven't done the buildup or installation of this barrel at this time. Just judging from the overall looks, it's a beautifully machined and finished barrel. If it shots anywhere as good as it looks, it's definatly a 5 star. The only reason I rated 4 stars is that I haven't shot it yet. I hope I'm not disappointed!!
