Faxon Match Series — 16" Gunner Profile .223 Wylde AR-15 Barrel (Mid-Length Gas)

416R Stainless • 5R Rifling • Nickel Teflon M4 Extension • Nitride Inside & Out

The Match Series 16" Gunner .223 Wylde combines Gov’t-strength durability with Pencil-like weight savings for a fast, well-balanced rifle. Chambered in .223 Wylde, it delivers match-grade precision with .223 Rem while safely accommodating 5.56 NATO pressures—perfect for training, competition, and duty use.

Starting with 416R stainless steel and 5R rifling (button-rifled, 1:8 twist), the bore is then salt bath nitrided inside & out for corrosion resistance and easy cleaning. Every Faxon Match barrel is stress relieved, air-gauge tested, magnetic particle inspected (MPI), and headspace verified. The M4 extension features a Nickel Teflon coating for enhanced lubricity and a tighter extension-to-receiver fit that aids consistency.

Another one added to the family

I'd just replaced my wife's barrel with this barrel, and she doesn't know how it shoots yet - I'm the one shooting it for her. Her old barrel was getting 1.5" groups and now I've been able to tighten them up at 75" groups with my handloads. The finish is perfect, the feel is amazing. Even WITH her lpvo on, it STILL weighs less than my 14.5. Like I've stated before, they've got a customer for life.

I received it in great condition, and installed it on a WMD upper. Fit-up is perfect, and it’s very accurate. Very happy with this purchase.

    Impressed

Posted by Chris on May 10th 2023

This is the second barrel I have purchased from Faxon. Only this one was for a lightweight AR15 project one of my female coworkers was building. Now I'm sad I don't own this rifle we created because it's the best shooting carbine I've fired. Coupled with an adjustable gas block, muzzle brake and H2 buffer, this barrel is a critical part of our lightweight build that's highly accurate. I'm impressed with both barrels I've purchased from Faxon. I'm a fan of heavy barrels myself, (other Faxon barrel is the 18" heavy fluted .308,) so I wasn't sure I'd like this one being it has a thinner profile than what I would normally go for. But having shot it now, I'm a believer. If you're looking to make a light weight .223 carbine that hammers the same spot every time, you can't go wrong with this barrel.

    Great Barrel

Fabulous upgrade. Shot three 5-shot groups (55 gr FMJ x2 and 77 SMK) at 100 yds, each covered by my turret caps. Worth every penny.

    Barrel performance

Posted by Tyrone Shaw on Apr 20th 2022

This barrel has shot excellent right out of the box. My son hits a 2” plate @ 200 yds 60-70% of the time. It seems to improve with the round count.
