Why Choose Faxon Duty Series

Quality is imbued from the start: we select premium 4150 CMV bar stock, execute precise machining and button rifling, then perform a battery of inspections at each operation. Barrels are fully stress relieved, treated with durable black nitride, and individually verified for headspace using hardened gauges. The SOCOM profile adds mass where it matters for heat handling and longevity without sacrificing the compact footprint demanded by AR pistol builds.

Installation & Compatibility

  • Compatible with standard AR-15 upper receivers and bolts using the M4 barrel extension.
  • Use a .750" gas block (set-screw or clamp-on) on the 1.9" journal.
  • Confirm muzzle device/suppressor compatibility with 1/2-28 threading. Always verify suppressor caliber rating.
  • For optimal reliability, tune buffer/spring and gas settings to your specific ammunition and muzzle device.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this barrel chrome-lined?
No. This model uses a black nitride treatment inside and out for wear and corrosion resistance.
Can I run a suppressor?
Yes, it is 1/2-28 threaded for common 5.56 devices and direct-thread adapters. Verify your suppressor’s caliber rating and tune your system as needed.
What ammo weights work best?
Modern 55–77 gr 5.56 NATO loads perform well. Match and defensive loads may offer improved consistency in short barrels. Handloads should be tuned to your setup.
Will this work with a standard AR-15 BCG?
Yes. The barrel uses an M4 extension and is compatible with standard AR-15 bolt carrier groups.

Overview: The Best 7.5" 5.56 Barrel for AR-15 Pistols?

If you’re searching for the best 7.5 inch barrel for an AR-15, the Faxon Duty Series 7.5" SOCOM Profile 5.56 NATO is engineered to rise to the top. Short barrels live hard lives: increased heat, higher cyclic rates, and tight timing windows. That’s why this model starts with certified 4150 CMV steel and a proven SOCOM profile that adds material where it matters for better thermal mass and durability. The result is a compact barrel that stands up to fast strings and duty use while delivering the repeatable performance you need.

Precision begins with consistent bore geometry. Faxon employs button rifling in a versatile 1:8 twist to stabilize common 55–77 grain 5.56 loads used by defensive shooters and enthusiasts alike. After machining, each barrel is fully stress relieved to help maintain point-of-impact stability, then treated with a robust black nitride finish inside and out for excellent wear and corrosion resistance. Final details matter: an 11° target crown helps promote uniform gas release at the muzzle, and every barrel is air-gauge tested, magnetic particle inspected, and individually headspace-checked using hardened gauges before it leaves our facility.

The pistol-length gas system is tuned for reliable cycling in short configurations, and the .750" gas block journal provides broad compatibility with popular set-screw or clamp-on blocks. Standard 1/2-28 muzzle threads accept a wide range of brakes, compensators, and suppressor mounts, making it easy to tailor your AR pistol for recoil management or suppression. Pair this barrel with appropriate buffer and spring selections, and you’ll have a compact, controllable platform that runs cleanly with modern ammunition.

Whether you’re building a home-defense AR pistol, a compact truck gun, or a maneuverable CQB training setup, the Faxon Duty Series 7.5" 5.56 barrel combines strength, reliability, and accuracy in a footprint that’s easy to carry and fast to deploy. Backed by Faxon’s in-house manufacturing and quality control, it’s a top contender for shooters who demand real-world performance from a short 5.56 NATO barrel.

    Barrel

It’s an outstanding quality barrel. I have the same pistol and this is the third barrel I’ve had on it. Exact same set up each time, but this one is holding a 1.5” diameter group at 250 yards pretty consistently. Great quality, great company, look forward to more builds using Faxon parts in the future!

    Very accurate.

I can hit a man-sized sillhouette at 250 yards every shot with M193 out of this barrel. Anyone who tells you a 7.5 isn't accurate is wrong.
