Manufacturing Engineer

Summary:

The Manufacturing Engineer plans, directs and coordinates the development and refinement of manufacturing processes. Develops, evaluates and improves manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of materials, parts, tooling and production equipment capabilities, efficiencies, safety concerns, assembly methods, best engineering principles, and quality control standards.

Reports to:

Chief Operating Officer

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Document production equipment and processes to improve manufacturing process control, safety, and quality
  • Create manufacturing process and controls to include documentation for production activities
  • Support manufacturing operations in trouble shooting existing products and processes to minimize scrap and waste and assure reliable manufacturing capability
  • Utilize lean methodology to make improvements to process to improve process capability & quality
  • Respond to manufacturing problems or product non-conformances by using various quality tools to identify root cause, determine most effective solutions and implement corrective actions
  • Identify and improve manufacturing profitability through productivity improvement, waste reduction and safety improvement
  • Work with the Tooling Department to optimize production tooling requirements and design
  • Work within company policy as outlined in the Faxon Handbook
  • Perform other duties as assigned as needed

 Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Solid background in 3D CAD techniques
  • Understanding of geometric construction, working drawings, and engineering terms and standards. Proficient in the current release of SolidWorks, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Must possess strong work ethic and project management skills
  • Manage time effectively, in order to accomplish highest-priority goals and objectives
  • Demonstrates effective spoken and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Eight (8) or more years of experience related to manufacturing environment
  • GibbsCAM software experience
  • Experience in estimating lathes and mills

Laser Engraver 

Summary: 

The Laser Engraver Operator is responsible for setting up and engraving all finished product. Safety is the priority while ensuring daily production of the department is met with proper clocking in the ERP system. The position reports to the Manufacturing Supervisor on safety and production concerns while always looking to improve the daily tasks performed.

Manufacturing Supervisor 

Hours & Pay:

50 hours/wk, $13-$15/hr DOE

Desired Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent or 6 months experience in a similar position, interested in personal development in trade
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Willing to learn to become proficient in operating applicable equipment
  • Good attitude
  • Quality oriented 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Set-up and operate laser engraving equipment
  • Read blueprints, work instruction and other instruction to verify engraving fixturing, settings and quality requirements
  • Pulling engraving programs based on part number identification and perform basic set-ups of laser engraving equipment
  • Learn to troubleshoot and identify laser related issues and request engineering or technician assistance
  • Report maintenance needs
  • Follows tag system, quality procedures and completes all relevant in-process inspection forms
  • Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean, orderly condition and follows prescribed safety procedures
  • Performs inspection of machined products, and documents results
  • Completes paperwork for parts
  • Understand all blueprint/operation drawing features before engraving
  • Understands job quotas established in router or as instructed
  • Ensure all gages used are calibrated and in good working order
  • Perform general maintenance on machine, as instructed
  • Carry out all other duties as assigned
