14.5" Pencil w/ Slim 3 Prong Flash Hider 5.56, 4150, Nitride
- Usually ships within 2 business days.
Our pencil barrels are the lightest in the industry. Don't take just our word for it, major companies like Robar, 2A Armament, and others choose Faxon pencils for their ideal balance of weight and performance.
We've taken them a step further, adding in our patent-pending permanently attached SLIM muzzle devices. Shooters can choose from a 3 port muzzle device or three-prong flash hider, both allowing the full assembly and disassembly of gas blocks and barrel nuts. Shooters are forever free to change their weapon's configuration without having to go to a gunsmith.
Faxon Firearms barrels are the pinnacle of value. Manufactured 100% in-house from cradle-to-grave, these barrels are fully stress relieved, air-gauge tested, and 11 degree target crowned to ensure superior accuracy.
Quality is imbued into our barrels from the start. We start with the best materials, either certified 4150 Mil-Spec steel or 416-R Stainless. From there, each barrel goes through a battery of tests at each operation until finished in Nitride and final inspected. All barrels are individually checked for headspace by precision custom hardened gauges.

Impressive quality product for the price. I'm fairly OCD and was unable to find fault with the finish. The flash hider is timed perfectly. The nitride finish is incredibly hard--took 30 minutes to put dimples in the barrel with a fresh, hard bit. Fits perfectly into the upper receiver. Journal diameter is spot on. I'm now back on the Faxon website shopping for more.
I love the Faxon pencil barrels - this is the third one I've purchased, the previous two being the 16 inch version.
I don't, however, like the three pronged flash hider all that much. Here's why:
- The finish is dull and contrasts noticeably with the barrel's finish, which is shinier and smoother.
- The flash hider resonates (rings) with every shot. That's annoying. It's essentially a muzzle mounted tuning fork.
On the plus side, being able to slide the gas block over the muzzle device is a great feature.
Overall the barrel's profile looks great on a lightweight AR build. If not for the issues above it would be perfect.
