Faxon's .308 continue our fantastic barrel-making with a bit more punch.
Faxon Firearms barrels are the pinnacle of value. Manufactured 100% in-house from cradle-to-grave, these barrels are fully stress relieved, air-gauge tested, and 11 degree target crowned to ensure superior accuracy.
Quality is imbued into our barrels from the start. We start with the best materials, either certified 4150 Mil-Spec steel or 416-R Stainless. From there, each barrel goes through a battery of tests at each operation until finished in Nitride and final inspected. All barrels are individually checked for headspace by precision custom hardened gauges.
Faxon manufactures all our barrels in Cincinnati, Ohio under our ISO:9001 and AS:9100 quality certifications.

*Note - Faxon Firearms barrels are chambered to SAAMI specification .308 Winchester at a nominal headspace depth (passing "Go" and failing "No-Go"). This ensures maximum safety and accuracy.
7.62x51 NATO is not the same round as .308 Winchester, though it will fit within chamber. 7.62x51 technically requires deeper headspacing to meet the military specification and is known to function in Faxon .308 WIN barrels under most circumstances. However, due to the variation of components in the .308 AR world and variations between loadings, Faxon cannot guarantee or warrant function with 7.62x51, especially with bolts with tight ("match") .308 WIN headspacing.

At this point in my build, I have not installed this barrel yet. That is why I gave a 4 star at the moment. The 4 star came from research I did before I bought the barrel. This is my first ground-up build. Once it is done, I'll see about putting that last star up there. ;) P.S. There is a AR melt down video out there. The Faxon barrel on that is what sold me on this barrel. I'm just not going to melt this one...hahaha.
Installed this on a Aero M5 upper. Fit and finish of the barrel was impressive. Timing the barrel nut was easy, but needed a extra shim to get enough torque to meet spec. Feed ramps were a little rough but a light polishing took care of that. After about 40 rounds I was pulling sub 1" groups with ease. One thing to pay attention to is the headspace. Faxon does tell you in the description that it will fail a standard GO, No GO headspace test which is true. It happened with this barrel. I ran a set of gunsmith gauges (in .001 increments) and found headspace to be fine, but it did fail a standard set of clymers, so don't be too alarmed. Just do your measurements. All in all I will definitely be purchasing another one.
The first barrel was a birthday present for my son. I liked it so much- I bought one for myself! I am very impressed with the quality and the service from Faxon.
Folks, these barrels are worth every penny. Don't second guess this one- you snooze you lose. These are not some garbage off a speed turn lathe with a quick parkerizing job. Quite the opposite.
Excellent work. The coating makes it easy to clean and maintain, looks very professional, a breeze to build.
I hope the offer other calibers- like 260 and 7-08 soon.
However, there's nothing wrong with 308; I'll be ordering more!
The barrel looks good and it fit my Aero Upper
I decided to use this barrel for my first 308 build and it's been the best decision ever. It's great quality and works extremely well. It also looks great on my rifle. Definitely will be using Faxon again.
I highly recommend using Faxton products the craftsmanship is some of the highest on the market a work of art well worth the money.
